With the Gilmore signing (even if it's just one year) ..i would think that puts us out of any Peters add on.

Plus the Cowboys may want to see how the NFL draft goes ..should a CB Joey Porter somehow and for whatever reason drops into their lap at #26 overall.

outside if injuries during the year Peters would be a progress stopper

we have Diggs whos top 5
Bland who is on the rise
and Gilmore whos as solid a number 2 corner as you can get

If he wants to come on a cheap 1 year deal, sure. But I suspect he won't. We could save $4.5M against the cap by cutting Jourdan Lewis and he is better than Lewis so you use that to pay him if he'll take it. That would leave all 3 of Diggs, Gilmore and Peters as your top 3 corners and Bland as your #4. BUT...have any of those 3 played the slot regularly? You aren't bringing him in to sit and if none of them are going to want to play the slot that would be a deal breaking issue. If it worked out you still have Bland as the #4 who can play inside or outside and be your future starter.

Absolutely. I was thinking that as I was typing and forgot to include it. You don't sign a vet this week (unless I guess it's a glaring hole which CB is not for us). After the draft you take a step back and re-analyze your wants and needs. If we take a CB early we obviously aren't bringing in a vet at that spot because we are already so strong as we sit here today.

His market value is around 9-10M, not something the Cowboys consider in FA. Even if it was half that, still not something the Cowboys consider in FA.
At this point the nfl is saying he has no market. He's going to have to sign a cheaper deal if he wants to play. We could have used him last season but not this one with the Gilmore trade.

The reason he has no market is because he lost a step. His entire game was about taking risks to make the big splash play but now he still takes the risks but no longer has the athleticism to make the big splash play.

Peters would be like a player signed after game 1, so his contract is not guaranteed. Need to see all the CB's on the roster or drafted to see what they can do.
Peters would be a fall back / injury type signing.
Heck, may as well bring back Xavier Rhodes like they signed him late last season.

because it’s not? and requires multiple bodies and signings are typically for more than one year.
no , i disagree you cant bring in 2 older vet corners who are bridges in the same year, they would be progress stoppers. now if Hes there like Rhodes was should we get a in-season major loss at Corner, sure you go get him but now , no, draft another that is in the wings Getting ready for Gilmores exit,
