Any mammoth NT FA or draftable ones?

I think if anything, we need to draft a mammoth Casey Hampton, Ngata, Wilfork type NT that's 330+ and move Ratliff to DE.

That would immediately improve our Run D and we can rotate Spears.

Thoughts??

My thoughts are that no one with the talents of the guys you mentioned are in the draft this year, closest is possibly Fairley and he's not a mammoth.

My pick is Kenrick Ellis, just a mountain of a man.

You'll find resistance to moving a pro bowl NT to end though. But I gotta believe Ratliff is as disruptive as Fairley (who would play end) and people want him here.

Ellis looks the prototypical NT. I see he's rated a late 2nd - 3rd. rounder. Anyone know about him ! Is he a player or just a big body.
A 3rd sounds about right for us as we have other needs before that.

there are 3 huge big NT in the draft this year buddy, their decent not great, but super run stoppers and occupying double teams to help out others rush the qb

Rather sign Shaun Rogers. He can play both NT and 3-4 DE.

Franklin from San Fran. would be a nice pick up.

would be a great addition and i'd love it but he'd cost 7m/year and Rat is due to renegotiate his contract within the next 18 months as well i would imagine(he's ouplayed his current one)

If Rogers is motivated and/or Pat Williams has anything left I could live with that. And a youngster. All about price I suppose.

Fairley is a pretty typical NT, his problem comes off the field. He's going to be just like Haynesworth.

Ummm, actually, he's NOT. He's 6'4", maybe 310. The PROTOTYPE NT is Casey Hampton and Vince Wilfork. 6'2" (short enough to naturally gain leverage against most guards and centers) and 325+ (a real widebody). Hell, Green Bay has 2 of them starting (Pickett and Raji). Guys like Ngata, Rogers, and Ted Washington back in the day were those rare taller NT's (at least 6'4") that are successful.

He's more of an end, but could see him being a Ratliff sort of NT perhaps. I'm ready to try a bigger guy at nose though.

You want a fireplug that is quick to be your NT. Fairley is not that.

Paul Soliai from Miami. 6-4 350. With Bowles coming here as DC and rumor he will bring Kacy Rodgers as DL coach, I can see Soliai following.

DL rotation:

Igor Soliai Ratliff - with back ups being Lissmore, Bowen, Brent

I'd rather have Spears over Igor, but I don't think money will work out.

I'd love Soliai, but he's gonna cost.

Why would he? He finally started showing something just this year and had been labeled quite the underacheiver up 'til now. I see him getting a deal similar to Igor's when he came to Big D.

In the draft:

Jerrell Powe, MISS. - 6'2", 330
Phil Taylor, Baylor - 6'4", 340
Kenrick Ellis, Hampton - 6'5", 340
Sione Fua, Stanford - 6'2", 306+ (listed, but he easily looked 10 lbs. bigger in the Orange Bowl - he really helped plug up a great run team)
Jarvis Jenkins, Clemson - 6'4", 315-320

I could also see Stephen Paea (6'1", 310+) from Oregon St. play that role in the attacking 3-4 Wade ran . My darkhorse is Chris Neild from WVU. He looks like he can add about 10-15 lbs. to his frame (6'2", 305). And, he's already strong as hell and a former wrestler.

Igor AND Soliai? Guess you don't expect any pass rush from the DL next season.

Gimme Soliai or Ellis in the draft. If we can't get either i'd give Phil Taylor a bite in the later rounds.

I wasn't impressed by Taylor one bit in the bowl game. Not only was he easily blocked by one man, but he was slow off the ball and got almost no push.
