You seemed a bit angry in your response.

I admit that anything I would come up with would be a guess and one based on very little information. I didn't claim to know exactly why Reeves was here--that was you.

Really.. Was I talking to you originally when I made a comment in this thread? You were the one that seemed pretty irritated by my bashing of your boy Garrett... Your act is transparent...

Your right I claim to know why Reeves is here, because I base it upon the evidence I listed, which is way more than what you got. You, on the other hand, say stupid things like the following:

I think part of the implication is that it would go along with a re-focusing on the fundamentals. Wade doesn't want his players hitting in practice because practicing, hitting, and blocking only lead to injuries. Someone should have told him they also lead to wins.

As if Wade has never coached with Dan Reeves before, in fact, under him.. You think Wade would need Reeves for that?

You know Bill Walsh never hit in practice as well, and he is considered one of the greatest and most successful coaches ever in the NFL..

Ah, I apologize if I offended you by suggesting that Wade could learn how to practice fundamentals from Reeves. The last sentence was entirely playful--I suppose I should have put a smiley.

 Leave it to jerra: Pass on Shanny, Gruden, the Giants ex-DC, et. but go lusting after a retread from the '90s.

And on top of it only make him a consultant while Wade, Garrett and Jerry are still in place doing their continuity thing.

Don't get me wrong. Tackling may help the team develop a harder attitude, and maybe Reeves will suggest it.

We tackled with Parcells though, and the defense collapsed. When Wade took over the defense, it played aggressive, plenty of man, and sacks came in bunches. With Brian Stewart, we had defensive performances like the one against the Rams.

I'm afraid Bach has a valid point: he makes it in a crude way but...WTH the guy is right: Reeves is OLD. A great guy with lots of rings, but....my god he's 65 years old. Who cares what he'll be doing? His pilot light went out a long time ago. You guys are arguing about something that just doesn't matter unfortunately.

Yet Bill is being credited with fixing the Dolphins ..... and he is 67.

His age isn't that important... see zrinkill's response above. What is important is his role in Dallas. If he is a guy that can see a player screwing off and have his butt kicked off the team, then the players will absolutely have to respect his authority and his opinion of them... or be on the street.

Reeves is an authoritarian (sp?) all the way and he won't put up with any jerking around. If he has some power on the team, then it is a very good move. If he doesn't have much power, then it isn't that big of a deal unless Phillips follows his instructions to the tee. If he does great... if he doesn't, then it still certainly isn't a bad thing.

So, depending on how it is handled, it can either be a good thing or a great thing. Either way, I'll take a franchise being run by Jones, Phillips and Reeves over one being run by just Jones and Phillips.

Folks, didn't Jason Garrett come from this line of coaches anyway?

Dan Reeves was in Denver. Wade Phillips was there with him and eventually took over. Wasn't Jim Fassel an offensive coach there? And didn't Jim Fassel coach Jason Garrett with the Giants back in 2000?

I just don't think Garrett is going to be threatened by this, and I don't think he should be. I think Reeves is just coming aboard to be another football guy. When Wade wants to talk to someone, he can talk to Dan. When Garrett wants to, so can he. And when Jerry wants to talk, he can find Dan Reeves instead of Larry Lacewell.

You realize that Shanahan IS a retread from the 90s as much as any coach out there. Gruden? Uh, no thanks.

this is my thoughts on dan reeves

he is being brought in to break down tape of the cowboy players, the coaches etc and report to jerry jones for a sounding board

also with ties with wade phillips be more of focus on discipline,

also, he will in my estimation help jason garrett like sparano did in 2007

and dan reeves will be the bad boy that gets onto the cowboy players when he has too

Can anyone say "Smokescreen"? That's all this is. Reeves will be brought on to act as a big, useless bandaid to hold off the overwhelming need to fire Wade and hire a new coach. I suppose the thing to do is be patient and hope everything magically works itself out. With wade as our coach, we'll need all the patience we can muster.
