Scrives, he's just not looking good at this point. He's making some very sharp throws from time to time, but it's the mistakes that have been dominating his afternoons. Wobblers, poorly thrown passes, interceptions, etc.

I wouldn't cast him aside yet. He's still adjusting to the new throwing motion, but I'd be pretty happy right about now knowing we're not counting on him as our starter this season.

Finally from a source I can trust.....that said....that SUCKS!

Dale....honest opinion....does he have the skills to succeed Bledsoe? Be honest...and I kow it's just your opinion, but I don't have the priviledge to see for myself....

Dale does he seem frustrated by it? How does the staff react? Could it be as simple as a tired arm or is that too optimistic?

This has to be the most disappointing news from camp so far. I was really hoping to see dramatic improvement from Henson. I haven't given up on him yet, but it's not looking good right now.

Dale, is there a chance Henson gets cut?

It does lead to you believe we might have tried to fix something that was not broken. I hope that is all it is, being mechanical.

Bernie Kosar had the worst throwing motion ever, but the Browns left him alone. Phillip Rivers has the same problem, so anyone who wants that trade to happen has been forewarned.

Coach Parcells seems more interested in the mental part, so we shall see. I really don't care if he throws tight spirals as I am concerned that he makes the right decisions under pressure.

Skills? Absolutely, in my opinion. He's got good size, is a smart fella, has a strong enough arm and can fire them in tight holes when he gets going.

I really think he's struggling with the mental parts of the game right now. In my opinion, he's so concerned about his throwing motion it's bogging him down and not allowing him to see the field in its entirety. I could be way off, but it seems that way to me.

Henson never struggled with wobblers last training camp. Yet this season, a lot of his passes wobble -- especially the deep ones, which he's underthrowing a lot (especially in the two scrimmages).

If it is a mental thing, it can turn around at any time . . . if he turns it around. You never know when it might start clicking. I think he just needs to find some rhythm with the new throwing motion so he starts feeling confidence in it, you know what I mean?

You know, these reports and this type of performance was what I expected from Henson last year after the long layoff. I was actually very surprised he showed what he did.

I wonder if last year was more of a no pressure situation. Maybe the mechanics take time to work through. Maybe he is absorbing more of the playbook this year.

Whatever is going on, I sure hopes he straightens it out. It'd sure be nice to have a long term QB solution one of these days instead of these retread, stop gap vets.

Henson's a pretty even-keeled guy. If he has a great or terrible practice, he looks like the same guy when speaking to the media afterward.

Parcells spent about five minutes yesterday (I think it was yesterday) talking to Henson one-on-one during a water break. I've never seen any indication that Parcells hates the guy, wants the guy cut, etc. I think he wants to see him work through this kink as much as any of the fans here do. But, Parcells has more riding on the line than fans do, which is why he knew he could never trust the guy as the uncontested starter this season. And in hindsight, the decision looks better and better.

Henson is what he is -- a highly-talented project. I say give him some more time, but in the meantime, keep the expectations somewhat level headed.

I think David Lee and Co. must have made that decision thinking they could get more out of Henson's talents if he had a more conventional throwing motion. Just because he hasn't totally adopted it in 10 days of practice doesn't mean he won't in time. We'll see.

Cool...thanks for the reply. There's that side of me that is not content with not knowing if we have a future QB...bugs me! Bledsoe was a good add, although not happy at the time, but now glad we did. I hope he gets passd this sticking point...still VERY early.

Still premature to talk about cutting him IMO, but many of us at season's end last year had really hoped Henson would come to TC strong this year and be a factor. I guess at this point he could be rated somewhere between a struggling two-year man who needs reps and a disappointing QB who's still yet to be determined NFL caliber.

:( Maybe Chief is right about David Lee not being the best one to tinker with Henson's mechanics...

Well said and good info. I think it was pretty clear after Bill stuck with Vinny last year that Henson wasn't ready (as much as we would like him to be).

I've got the patience to let him develop.

The way Henson's contract is setup it is unlikely he gets cut. He was guaranteed to get 3.5 million out of it so what ever he is still owed on that would come due along with the cap hit. I would also think the coaching staff knew ahead of time that when they changed his throwing mechanics that it would take some time for him to adjust to it, since they had already gone through this with Tony Romo last year.

I think that's part of the problem. We draft a raw kid in the second round, or pluck a guy off a baseball team, etc...and the expectations are that they "become the guy." Granted, part of the reason is because of the hype the team puts out about the guys.

It's enough pressure on a highly-talented guy taken No. 1 in the draft. IMO, it's even more when being put on guys selected in the latter rounds.

Imagine if Tom Brady had been expected to save the Patriots' franchise his first and second years in the league. Would the scenario have worked out as well as it did? I'm not so sure.

And he's signed for, what, six or seven years?

That's a lot of time to devleop. ;)

Same here and have kept the same mindset since the day we signed him. I never expect this to be an overnight project
