Haven't heard whether he's been offered the OC job, still in Dallas, gone. Anybody know?

I'm certainly not one of those 'sign T.O. and every other high-profile player available' types, but I have to wonder why, when a coach with the offensive pedigree of Mike Martz is available, we're not making an effort to get him. It doesn't look like as if he's going to get a head coaching offer (please correct me if I'm wrong there), so it's pretty easy to imagine him coordinating someone's offence next year. As a head coach, I think he was a bit of a clown, but his offensive track record is superb, and he's achieved a lot of it with strong-armed QB who aren't necessarily that mobile (something we look to have for the next few years.)

Martz is a great OC but his offensive philosophy doesn't fit Parcells style of play. It's not ball control. It's vertical pressure all over the field. Quick strike is great but it's also tough to control clock when your TDs are contigent on the down field passing game.

Guys you all just don't get it. Scoring TDs on every drive doesn't win you games. Controlling the clock does

And in addition to what everyone else stated in regards to Martz, I believe it would set the Boys back a lot since they would have to learn a whole new offense again. Yes, he is a good offensive mind, but wouldn't be a good fit at this time if the Boys are trying to make a SuperBowl run next year imo.

drew would be dead by game 3.that was one of the problems in st loius. qb's can't survive in his system and he does'nt use a t.e. so witten becomes illrelavant. martz's system worked for a few years till dc's figured it out, now all it does is get your qb killed

Our WRs don't fall to the ground the minute they catch the ball unlike Holt and Bruce so Mutz is not a good choice.

Anyway, he has a heart problem, do you want to see him die on the sideline?

And tons of turnovers. St. Louis has led the league in total turnover giveaways the past 3 years. Which means losing lots of games (and then everyone wonders what they would be like "if they only had a defense").

Arena Football should start up in a few weeks. That should satiate some people's need for "aggressive playcalling". But you might want to skip out on the Superbowl.

If Palmer isn't announced by today or tommorrow morning, I look for him to join the Jets. Parcells knows him and he knows Parcells. I doubt they need much time to go over his resume and detail his personal offensive philosophy and background. This is a "Do you want the job, and if so for how much?" meeting.

Actually, if you scored a TD on EVERY drive, you'd be hard pressed to lose.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was he not in his first year on the job the year the Rams won?

I think Martz the coodinator, with a head coach checking his impulsive urges, would be a lot more successful than Martz the head coach.

Followed Vermeil who set the table for him. Giving Martz credit for winning a super bowl is like giving Switzer the same credit.

I dont want Mike Martz either. I like some of his schemes but overall he gets too gushy and red with the Passing Game.

With that said, he was the Offensive Coordinator when the Rams won their Super Bowl. No doubt he deserves some praise when talking about the Rams' Super Bowl. He was also calling the plays when the Rams ultimately lost to the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

1. He's made it clear he doesn't want and won't take a coordinator job. 2. He's notoriously hard to get along with. I can't *imagine* him working well as second fiddle to Parcells, and 3rd fiddle to Jerry Jones. 3. He does have legitimate health issues. I have no idea if the bacterial infection left lasting damage or leaves him open to a recurring problem of some sort, but there might be good reasons to think he's not medically qualified, either.
