I think Michael Irvin played with a quad injury. It wasn't going to heal, but it wasn't going to get worse either.
Give it a few days, see how it responds. Hope for the best.

The man went down like somebody shot him, I remember when Barber went down, crazy scary stuff.. Steroids or HGH might be the only cure then...

Word was he passed the strength tests after the game yesterday, which is normally a good sign, but that he was significantly hobbled in the hallways today. I think it's one of those day-to-day things that ends up taking weeks for some reason we never really have explained to us.

I've strained my quad playing football twice. It hurt at the time but I kept playing. The next day was painful, two days later was BRUTAL. And no matter what there is no quick fix. Stretching can actually make it worse, and using it too early leads to another strain. If he is really that hobbled I expect him out for several weeks. I have zero hope he plays against the Texans.

It depends on the level of strain and how he responds. They may want to take him off special teams if he can play sunday.

They'll probably give him Wednesday off. May not practice until Friday

Really depends on what he has:

The average healing times are: (1) mild strain – 2 to 10 days, (2) moderate strain – 10 days to 6 weeks, (3) severe strain – 6 to 10 weeks.

These times are for normal individuals without the luxury of a training staff, with a professional training staff these times would be somewhat quicker.

MIckey on Talking Cowboys said that Bruce could barely walk down the hall.................................sounds like multiple games he is going to miss.

injuries like this are always worse looking the next day when all that blood pools from the tearing. I have an inkling that by Friday it will look like he can play but I think he will miss this week.

He is in a contract year so he has million$ of reasons to heal quickly. Call TO up and ask him to let you use that hyperbaric oxygen tank.

I hope he heals quickly. He has been playing well. If he can't go out there, let's see what Hitchens can do. He played really well in the middle against STL.

Best to just rest him… His greatest asset is his speed-- and that will be severely limited even if he tries to play through it. I'd rather roll with Hitchens/McClain/Durant and try and see if Bruce can go in 2 weeks against Seattle.

I had the same injury when I was kid playing baseball. Very similar in how mine occurred. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays against the Texans. I don't think he should miss more than 2 games and that is only if they are being overly cautious and figure that we're likely to lose to Seattle anyway.

Ware had more issues than the quad.
True, but a quad injury for a guy like Ware, who depended almost entirely on his ability to be explosive off the snap, could be way more detrimental than it would be to Carter, who doesn't necessarily have to be explosive all the time.

Not to mention exploding out of a 3 point stance is harder on the quad then coming out of a 4-3 LB 2 point stance.

this is an injury that could be helped with that treatment i would think

A strained quad feels like a knot in your thigh that never goes away. Pretty painful when you try to run. If its bad, he can play, but this will linger all season. The only thing that cures it is rest.

Itd be safe to assume hes out this sunday, strains are tricky in that they can vary wildly in recovery time. You cant rehab a strain.

My guess is hes out through Seattle, just to be cautious in case of re injury.

All that it is is a decompression chamber for when divers get the bends. It shrinks the air molecules to smaller size so that it flows better in the bloodstream.
