Any updates on him? Do they expect him to be back at training camp full strength? Diggs, Gilmour, Bland, Lewis is a good group of corners. Add the safety’s in and this is the best secondary the Cowboys have seen since the early to mid 90’s.
This defense has the potential to be top 3 in the league this year.
They were at the top last year.

Should be even better this year.

Appears he will definitely be behind the 8 ball coming off an injury....and Bland probably will be taking his job. But he will be needed for depth. So hope he recovers quickly and can contribute to the defense. I agree this defense has great potential with DQ at the helm.
Lewis returning would be solid depth with trade potential.

Agree. Wright is worthless, and Joesph is as well as a CB. Lewis all depends upon his recovery. Even at that I think he can be replaced.
But once Brown and Lewis were out, the defense took a step back.
Joseph may be saved by his ST's play. But do they wanted carry 2 players, in Joseph and Goodwin for ST's only, plus a 3rd in Turpin. Roster spots are too valuable to do that.

If Lewis struggles in TC, if he is not on PUP. My bet he will be. It is what the team does. Steele and Lewis will start tC on PUP.

Look for Brown to be signed if his recovery is ahead of Lewis. This is where the CB, Scott, they drafted can step up and show why they traded up for him.
Giving Wright and Joseph this camp and preseason to show this season that they can find a role first, and then decisions can be made.
Wright - extremely green.
Joseph - extremely immature.

Yep, as I said he needs to win the 4th CB role.
- He might end up staying as an ST player because he is top 2 on ST per the ST coach.
- Joseph might want to go to another team because most Cowboys fans hate him for silly reasons.
Silly reasons? You mean like being a knucklehead in both college and the pros?

Yeah, he was always going to be a project because of his inexperience. But I think he can salvage his career. With or without Dallas.

With what we dealt with at the end of the season we need to keep Lewis for depth. If anyone should be bounced it's Wright and Joesph.
Thank you! Those clamoring for a release of a proven vet CB because we have 3 clear starters ahead of him is laughable.

Do y’all not remember how a lack of established depth past the first 3 hurt us? We got lucky as heck with Bland. Had he not worked out we would’ve been even more screwed.

5M in savings for a team who’s not even pressed up against the cap and has no recent history of using all its cap room anyway is not even close to being worth having a dependable 4.

Y’all trying to cut quality vet depth for a few M should be ashamed lol.

It's Broaddus, don't take it at face value. The guy has been wrong 1,000% more than I have been on picking the wrong lotto numbers.
He may be confused because the original surgery would include a second procedure anyway to remove the screws
That’s typical but we shall see

Lewis when healthy is a baller!! He is shifty and great covering the slot.

I hope he comes back with a vengeance!!

Go Cowboys!!

They need to keep Lewis, assuming he’s healthy. He’d be great as the 4th corner. He’s a good player. He plays smart and has really good quickness. He’s a positive in the defensive backfield. I’d only let him go if one of the young, cheap guys is as good or better than him.

Personally, I’m done with Joseph. I said that last year when he got in games and just didn’t do a thing to help the team. He just doesn’t have it, mentally. As far as I’m concerned, they can just move on, and that is something you’ll rarely hear me say about a player. It has nothing to do with the off the field stuff… I just think he’s a bad football player. I bet the 6th round rookie corner from Southern Miss (Eric Scott) is better right now than Joseph is.

I’d also keep Wright long before Joseph.

He absolutely isn't wrong that often. He literally works at the Star and the official radio station of the team. He has sources on the team from previous friendships. He's not making things up, geez

Never heard an encouraging thing about Joseph. Nothing about his work ethic. At this point he would have to really show me something to consider keeping him.

He’s a solid gunner. But that’s always nullified by the personal foul penalties

They would save 5.8M by cutting him.

Bland is the starting Nickel CB now.

If anybody challenges Lewis for the 4th CB spot, they'll go with the younger, cheaper player if it's close.

Only 2 of Lewis, Joseph and Wright make the roster, IMO.

Last spot goes to the draft pick.
Not quite $5.8M. They save his $4.5M base salary plus his per game roster bonus. $1.1M of his cap hit is the allocation of his signing bonus and we don’t save that by cutting him. But, still enough IMO to make cutting him a possibility. We also played Mukuamu at CB at the end of the year But I’m not sure what the plan is for him this year. We learned last year you need at least 4 CBs who can play so I think it’s better than 50/50 he stays unless we sign another veteran Or think Mukuamu is a CB FT

call me crazy but the 6th round CB is the pick I question. I don’t think he makes the 53 at all

Lewis might be a June 1 cut just because we will need his roster spot and he likely wont be able to help us this year.
