Anybody else not upset or enthused by this signing?

Who is trolling you bud? You agree that nothing changed with this signing. Then we are in agreement.

The direction of the team is set for the next 4 years. Thats big. And we are only paying 22 million towards the cap instead of 37, this year. WE can now manipulate the cap as we see fit. This is basically a 4 year window and you can bet that Jerry sees this as his last hurrah.

Despite what you negative ninnies say the Cowboys team isnt that far away from being a very good team.

That was not real travesty. Travesty involves picking in the top 3 for at least a couple of years. Last year was a speed bump.

Actually, last year was a bigger travesty because we could have had the 3rd pick. That would have been amazing. But we won a couple meaningless games at the end and that pushed us all the way down from 3 to 10. I dont see a bigger travesty than that.

Ah, I peed in your cheerios. Lol. Don't let other posters get you riled up. Our opinions have zero to do with the success of the team. If you feel energized, you go ahead and feel it bro.

Mid nineties. I was pretty enthused during the playoff runs of 07, 14, and 16. My blood was going pretty good, lol.
You should be enthused this year too being we play in a terrible division and we seem to be getting half of our starters back from injury. No?

We are in agreement. They would need to experience real travesty seasons (extremely poor records) to amass the draft capital to make major strides.

My theory is that if we pay Dak more than Mahomes, we can expect similar results. Where's the super bowl next year? Gotta start laying out my calendar.

Top 3 pick could have meant a trade out for someone wanting a QB. Could have spring boarded our defensive rebuild. Top 10 will be fine as long as we can get one of those top 2 corners.

I have been saying for a few weeks that no one knew exactly what Dak was asking for and that's why we could not blame Jerry for not signing him sooner. I was also saying the people taking the position "just sign Dak" were full of it because they had not idea what he wanted either. With this deal we know exactly what Dak wanted and frankly, it is unreasonable. I am happy the Cowboys signed their QB, but none of us will be happy that the Cowboys will be CAPstrung for the next 4 years.

As I posted, Mahomes's contract is worth a little over $35 million a year for the first 4 years. Dak's deal could be worth as much as $41 million a year over 4 years. I am guessing there are $4 million in various bonuses built into Dak's contract and I hope they are tied to the Cowboys playoff success.

In any case, we need to see how this contract is structured before we can understand how seriously it will hurt the Cowboys CAP in the future.

If I expected there to be no lingering health problems with Tyron Smith, then that would be something. They might replace him in this draft. They need so many defensive prospects, it's kinda absurd. I think they will just yield a bit of offsetting gains and losses on the whole. The parts that they will need to replace needed replacing. If they can build up the rushing attack to be on par with 2016, they can get another run going.

We'll see.

Jerry & Stephen just sunk their wildcat well in Dak expecting a gusher. It will turn out to be just another dusty dry hole like the last quarter century.
Jerry has climbed the mountain top to look over the promised land only to never to cross the river again to enter it.

Speak for yourself. I've been saying it would be 4x$160 for 14 months.

Anybody else not upset or enthused by this signing? The FO waits till a day before franchise tag deadline to finalize a deal that seems like a foregone conclusion. Like the deal was agreed upon beforehand and announced on a Monday to take advantage of a full week of media frenzy?

To me, it's as though someone paid full retail on a heating and cooling ac unit for an older home with poor insulation all around and large windows facing the south and west. Just a bag of meh that will keep the biz running and making bucks.

There are worse things than winning a crappy division and never making it past the second round of the playoffs. The Cowboys don't market the team with that statement though. Cheers guys, we are going to thrash the bottom third of the league!

I look at it like this. The Cowboys should have signed Dak to a Contract after his 3rd year. He should have gotten his new contract in 2019. In 2019 he made $2 million and in 2020 he made $31 million and now we sign him to a 4 year $160 million contract. So basically Dak will make $193 million over that 6 year period he should have bee signed for an average of $32 million a year. I am sure Dak’s agent used 2019 as an argument to why Dallas should make up some of the money he lost by not be signed to a large deal earlier in his contract. Not to mention playing the first 3 years of his career for a total of $3 million while other QBs like Wentz and Goff got paid early and often.

Oh, I definitely was and still am of the opinion that the team should blow the core up and start over. I can't control what the team does, so I can't really get upset by their mistakes.

When the team does not perform all that well and just goes sideways, I just pay attention less. If you are enthused by this signing, then why?

Yeah, the core players (Dak, Elliott, Cooper, Jaylon Smith, and Lawrence) are not likely winning any Super Bowls. That is nearly $90M and half the cap for those under performers.

I'm happy we got the deal done before the deadline and before the start FA, I think it gives the organization a clearer picture on what they want to get done. Cowboys no longer looking at 37 mill hit on the cap instead Dak accounts for a little over 10% of the cap at 22

If you don't like Dak you free to roam about the NFL

There are varying degrees to like. I'm okay-ish with him. I love posters that get so emotionally attached to any particular player. You guys know you can buy his jersey and possibly make contact with him?
