Anybody else starting to think Joshua Dobbs might be legit?

I watched some of his performance against the 49ers yesterday and dude didn't exactly wet the bed. 28-41 265 yards 2 TD no picks. That's doin work against that defense. 102 passer rating. Seems like he did all he could their defense just couldn't stop McCaffrey. Anyway.. 4 TD and no picks so far this season.. I remember him being pretty good at Tennessee in college and wondered why he didn't get drafted higher. He has shown enough to at least be a long time backup in the league.. maybe more..

I think so. This is his floor since he wasn’t even in training camp getting reps with the starters.

A lot of it came in the last drive during garbage time against backups. But I do agree he's an above average starting NFL quarterback. Not just some scrub backup.

Joshua Dobbs has been surprising for sure. He seems to have come out of nowhere. He’s bounced around the league since 2018. He’s only had 6 NFL starts. Who knows he could develop into something with more experience.

At minimum he is a good back up to have who can play well in. 1 to 6 game stretch if your starter gets hurt. Thats worth 5 to 10 million a year for him. Maybe similar tier as Rush, but more talent and less likely to get exposed

He could start for a handful of teams. He isn’t flashy, great or younger but can certainly lead a controlled offense.

I remember him sucking at Tennessee more than anything. Decision making was suspect on many occasions. jmho

I had this conversation with some prior to him facing the Cowboys.

Factor in that he never had a trading camp. If he had a offseason with the same head coach and same OC two years straight who's to say this guy can't be a legit QB in this league? But he never does. It's like the NFL guys like Baker Mayfield will get a million chances for some strange reason. Carson Wentz got too many. Then there are some guys who just get written off as a backup and that's it. Hell Tyrod Taylor got a few of them too.

Dobbs could be legit. Not top 10. I don't know that. But he could be a starting QB in this league. I've asked people who are more familiar with him than I am what is he bad at? What does he suck at? No one knows. They just write him off because....well just because. Pretty unfair for him.

But to answer your question...I think he is. He's faired better than most would in similar situations.

I know one thing....he's played well against the Cowboys two years straight.
