Yes. DQs defense was terrible against teams with multiple receiving threats because he didn't scheme coverages.

He was not asked to do that at Michigan, nor last year in Dallas, as DQ screwed that up.
So far he has not been asked to do that yet. Maybe they work that in at some point. So we do not know if he can or cannot.

The coaches know more than you or I, as well as anyone on here. We have other that are being used to rush the passer at this point. 2 DE's, and the Micah factor.

You dont take players like him with premium picks. That was dumb.

That is my big problem with Mazi is the huge overdraft
BUT he also really looked bad last year; but it seems a fair amount of that was the mess that DQ made
now with a REAL DC he is coming into his own.
I hope he can be more than just a big guy who clogs things up but realistically probably not. However our NEED for that makes him valuable.
This was a need pick and pretty much you always over reach for one of them.

I really doubt he will ever be technically worth his pick but if he can do what we need him to do enough then its OK. Not really good but OK

he wasnt drafted to do it, he was drafted to clog the middle and he did...i want Aaron Donald or Chris Jones also they seem to be in contracts with other teams at the moment... This is the point I think some miss..either you have Chris Jones/A.D. OR you have a DT that can clog the middle and pass rushers on the ends...what has both and can pay them all?

I had to watch it on my phone (thank you, Commanders), so the picture was literally too small to be able to watch individual players along the LOS. But, given their success in stopping the run and that the LBs had good games, it probably means he had a solid game. We won't know if he is that improved (or cleavland's line was just that bad) until he / they do it against another team. Let's see how this week goes. But Sunday was encouraging.

Thought he looked noticeable bigger on the field. Also was involved in some of those inside runs that didn’t work out. So yeah guess he was doing his job.

He isn’t going to show up on the stat sheet like ppl want. Just not how his position works.

I know he started the game, but I sure don't remember seeing him much at all. I don't remember even seeing him make one play even. He plays one of those positions that you don't always notice - sometimes thats good too. You don't want to notice him or hear his name too much because that can mean penalties or getting beat often. So maybe he did his job well, and I just didn't notice with all the defensive stars shining.
What were your opinions on Mazi yesterday ?

That's not how NT works.

Mazi has a problem in that he was drafted in the first RD and thus you SHOULD be getting some positive notice. Not his fault he was over drafted but he is stuck with it

There are NTs all over the NFL drafted far lower doing about the same as he is

Always the chance the QB takes off running. He is in the middle to help stop him. Or redirect, slow him up for the LB’s.

Fans are never going to get numbers from him that they can sink their teeth into.

oh come on. we have faced plenty of QBs that are no real risk of running for anything, that is such a cop out.
He has had a fair number of chances to show he can rush the passer and he has failed. That is the reason the coaches do not expect him to do it not because of some master plan
