The one for me, still in the back of my mind after all these years... that damn Dwight Clark catch. What makes it even worse is they still keep showing it in highlights! Not easy for one to forget.

The hold was the right call. The missed facemask was not.
True, but it was a double face mask. Both defender and WR had each other's with the Pats helmet getting ripped off.

That drive was possibly the worst drive in league history. If they kneel down 3 times and kick the FG they win the super bowl
I think the devil is dancing this morning. Someone on the Pat's surely sold their soul...that's the only explanation after the Seattle choke a couple of years ago only to be followed buy the epic choke displayed by Atlanta last night. Talk about giving a game away...

That is not mutually exclusive with it being a fixation. It is also not so much an observation but a recollection. Re-observing bad things that happened years ago is fixation.

In general bringing up old irrelevant **** is fixating. You are not arguing that is not the case.
Are you gonna charge me for this session..............cause I really don't feel any better.

The game reminded me of the Rocky movie where he fought Drago. Drago was killn rocky, and everybody thought it was over. But wait.......with a strip sack Rocky draws blood...yo Adrian !

I see and not see the comparison between Dallas and Atlanta. Untimely playcalling? Yes. Untimely player execution? Yes. A very effective pass rush that was giving Brady fits until New England made adjustments that Atlanta should have compensated for? No.

So you guys that are identifying it with the Cowboys do you have any particular game in mind or is it just an emotional reaction?

A couple of past Detroit Lions games.
The Green Bay game a few years back.
Garrett freezing his own kicker in Arizona.

Granted, none of these games were in the Super Bowl.

The Falcons choke job was the biggest of all time however. Dwarfing anything Garrett has done.

So stuff from 2013 and before.

in Falcon colors? Maybe someone touched on this, if so, my apologies. Team plays well, O gets us a lead, D over achieves. O goes into safe mode, D falls apart when most needed, Coaches choke it up and make horrid calls and QB makes critical mistakes down the stretch. That's the Cowboys way for the past 20 years.

They didn't go into safe mode. After going up 28-3 the Falcons ran 5 running plays.

They kept throwing - "keeping the foot on the gas pedal", as I've seen it said - and it backfired on them.

Was saying it throughout the game thread...they took a page (actually a chapter or two) from our playbook...in fact, I can't ever be mad again about the Green Bay game...nothing will ever top that epic collapse overall and situational football meltdown with the game clinching score staring them in the face...still can't believe it.

Perhaps this will now be the Pete Carroll coaching tree legacy? Pete made what many considered the worst call in SB history two years ago and Dan Quinn said, "hold my beer...I got this!"...:lmao:

If only they stuck with the run
