anyone else happy we're ducking the saints?

No way - the blueprint that they have will be outdated by September 2007. It's the blueprint for how to beat the 2006 Dallas Cowboys.

This will be a completely different team and offense next year. I can't wait to see the Garrett offense. He's coached and played under Norv's timing-based system, Gruden's west coast offense, Saban's offense and I believe even Coughlin's offense. I know that I am probably overhyping here, but I expect big things from Red Ball.

I agree with you! Why should the Cowboys worry about the Saints this season?

They "came marching in" last year....

But, this season, if the Cowboys play them?

They will "go marching out"!

And so will alot of other teams!

If the Saints are as good as you say they are there will be no avoiding them in the playoffs.

My hunch is they go 8-8 next season while Dallas is 11-5 or 12-4.

Im glad were not playing them next year and hope we dont meet in the playoffs.

Ditto. It was an unfortunate advantage - them having Coach Payton on their side.

im sorry but uh since when are we "ducking" the saints? i mean where did that come from?

We owe the Saints, however, ANY NFL team can make the other look very bad if you are not prepared to play.

After hearing several of our defensive players say they did not understand what schemes were called during the games.......no wonder we could not cover FB's out of the back field 2 games in a row.......whaz up?

That is what I asked the author, but he tucked his tail between his legs and ran away.

I'm not a psychologist but I suspect one of the bitter Bledsoe fans of creating a Romo username only to come back and attempt to mock. Poor job if it is. You'd think he could at least try to be somewhat clever about it.

For all we know Sean Payton is just another Jim Mora, Jr. The Katrina brotherhood effect may wear off, and he has flamed out as a play-caller before ('02 Giants).

Forget that! If we cant beat the Saints then we dont deserve to win the Super Bowl.

Do you really think the Saints are going to have two seasons like that in a row. They have never done it in their history.

That's a very good point.

yes your right good golly heavens forbid we meet them, you know last year and this year things always stay the same so lets be thankfully, especially now that we have a new staff plus maybe some FA, we would definitely not want to meet them

The only ways to "duck" the Saints is to not make the playoffs or not win enough in the playoffs to get that far.

I think the Saints have the core of a good team and a good coaching staff and are going to be a force to deal with over the next few years until they win enough games for their players to demand more money than they can provide and lose some of them to FA and also, with success comes offers to assistant coaches and the good ones leave for promotions elsewhere and mediocrity begins to set in for a while. It's the new NFL cycle.

I think they will draft well and get a few FAs as well. They're going to be almost as much fun to watch as the Cowboys are going to be as they come out from under the smothering wet blanket that Parcells had become to see the new light of day under a coach with not only a good record but a personality that can motivate his players to do their best. Parcells had gotten to a point where he couldn't and his stodginess will be replaced by an adaptable expert not only on the 3-4 but how to play it and actually use all the tools it makes available to a defense if properly coached and played.

I think even with Jerry's meddling, this is going to be a good team. If you're winning, it ain't meddling, it's managing. It's not meddling until you're losing.

i hope we do meet them in the playoffs, that way coach Phillips can show Coach Payton what real coaching looks like, not what happened this past season

OMG... surely you jest.... not even the BIGGEST homer could make that statement..... this is really amusing....

The Saints were nothing but a one-year feel-good story playing on high emotion.

Next year the hangover sets in and they go back to being mediocre.

Stick that in your hats and call it macaroni.

Drew Brees, Duece McCallister, Jerome Brown, Scott Fujita, Reggie Mckenzie, Jeff Faine, Will Smith, Charles Grant... all just entering their prime

Best draft class in the league per SI

Game breaker in Reggie........

1 year wonder..... dream on..........

Just curious... based on????? your performance last year?? The Saints performance??? Or the history of the Saints... I'm guessing the latter..... because logic is not in your favor on this arguement my friend...

This team got bullied in that game and lost their composure and it never returned.

Until this team amends for that, they are not going to get past the next hump.

Same thing with the whipping the Eagles gave them to take the Eastern Division.

This team has alot of rebuilding to do and to do it, it's going to have to be at the expense of the teams like the Saints and the Iggles if it's going to happen.

This team had control of it's season, then lost it's resolve and then cowered down the stretch trying to back in to the playoffs and couldn't even get that right.

Dallas was lucky to get there at all to play Seattle.

They played poorly under Bledsoe, then had about 5 good games when Romo took over and then played poorly in the last 4 games with Romo.

And the Saints started that skid for us.

So no, if this team has an ounce of pride, they will want the Saints and the sooner the better.

Unfortunately, they won't get that chance until the playoffs IF both teams get there. That's not a lock either way.

So Dallas may have to live with that body slam called a game they had dished out to them at Texas Stadium by the Saints.

It maybe better that way. Dallas may have to deal with digesting that loss for awhile and need to do so so as not to allow it to happen again.

Because no matter how good Dallas might become next year, people will be pointing to that Saints game as being the defining moment of the Cowboys and wondering if some other team is going to replace the Saints and still slam it to us.

So while Dallas might be remembered for the failed snap in Seattle, the humiliation against NO cuts much deeper and will last much longer than Seattle and did more to hurt Dallas than even the fumble with 1:09 to go.

We'll see how or if it gets exorcized.

I hope Dallas gets a chance to face Saints as well. For Dallas to get where they want to it should not matter who Dallas plays. I respect the job the Saints have done and fully expect them to be back in the playoffs next season and hope Dallas gets an opportunity to play in the big games be it against NO or anyone else. If you’re worried about playing a team in the playoffs then chances are your team does not belong there to begin with.

It's great to encounter a rational poster...

Of course at this point, in the landscape that is today's NFL, no one really knows what 2007 will look like.... Free Agency has created opportunity for improving and falling apart so much quicker than when I became a fan 35 years ago... but for some to suggest that the Saints are a 1 time "emotional flash" or that Coach Payton has to take a back seat to a retread like the Son of Bum is laughable... I expect Dallas to improve but so too do I expect the Saints to improve... And honestly I like where we are starting from more than whe re Dallas is starting from.... and the only counter to that is to flash your 5 Super Bowls and our sorry past... neither of which wins football games TODAY.....

See you folks in January.... in the Dome........
