anyone else happy we're ducking the saints?

It's great to encounter a rational poster...

Of course at this point, in the landscape that is today's NFL, no one really knows what 2007 will look like.... Free Agency has created opportunity for improving and falling apart so much quicker than when I became a fan 35 years ago... but for some to suggest that the Saints are a 1 time "emotional flash" or that Coach Payton has to take a back seat to a retread like the Son of Bum is laughable... I expect Dallas to improve but so too do I expect the Saints to improve... And honestly I like where we are starting from more than whe re Dallas is starting from.... and the only counter to that is to flash your 5 Super Bowls and our sorry past... neither of which wins football games TODAY.....

See you folks in January.... in the Dome........

Well don't forget your team won 3 games the year before so while I think NO is a very good team I don't think Dallas is far behind and could surpass NO.

I think 2005 just needs to be thrown out of the discussion... Prior to that we had 3 years hoovering at .500 so there was talent on the team that the 3-13 simply did not reflect....

Coach payton came in got rid of the malcontents... Aaron Brookes comes immediately to mind.... Then off of .500 talent base, he adds people like Drew Brees and of course Reggie and Fujita and Faine... spectacular in Reggie's case.. solid pros in the othere....

Another solid off-season and I think you will find the Saints continuing to be in the mix for the Super Bowl... I know it is hard to keep a straight face with Saints and Super Bowl in the same sentence but any objective viewer has to acknowledge it is there....

Like us I think Dallas has a base to build... son of bum does not have an empty basket by any means.... real possibility of seeing each other next january...

I want to warn you of one thing. Over confidence.

In 2005 you finished 3-13, dead last in your division, which means you played the last place schedule in 2006.

In 2006 you finished in first place in your division, which means you get the 1st place schedule in 2007.

Things can come crashing down faster than you think. Not saying they will, but it does happen.

I'm a Saints fan.. Over confidence is not a problem in our neck of the woods...lol... however, the fact that our out of conference match-ups last year were against the AFC East meant we had the 2nd toughest schedule going into the year.... and we did pretty well... had we played the Bear's schedule last year the NFC Championship game likely would have been in the Dome....

And like I said earlier, i fully understand that things change rapidly in today's NFL... We, like every other team, need to make good choices in this off season... Based on last year's experiences (our draft ranked the best by SI) I am optimistic... We shall shall see but another off season like the last and I think we will be very difficult to beat... Not over confident.. just realistic

Actually, that's not being realistic at all. You sound more like a RedStink fan then anything else...and they are definetly not realistic...

The RedStinks won a playoff game the year before last, and there were close to 70 or 80 new RedStink posters on here before this past season claiming how great they were, how they won a playoff game, how St Gibbs brought the team back, how they were on their way to the SuperBowl...!

Well, we all saw how that turned out, right? So you are not being realistic at all, you are speculating, nothing else.

What happened to the Saints last year has no bearing on what will happen this year. There are tons of variables that will change the way things will work out for everyone in the NFL.

Don't hang on to your one successful past like a RedStink fan, because, it may come crashing down on you in one big swoop...

Oh I see.... i need to be realistic like the posters on here???

Son of Bum is better than Payton.. mmmmm

Had Ellis not been hurt I am convinced that we (meaning Dallas of course) would have been in the Supr Bowl... double mmmmm

I see the Saints at 8-8 and the Cowboys at 14-2 triple mmmmmm

Ok... I'll learn to be be more realistic like you guys...lol....

Dude I'm not in here making crazy predictions.. Just off of work today and thought I'd spend some time on other boards seeing what the pulse is like... I think my assesment has been pretty reasonable... We have a number of skilled players just entering their prime.... I have said IF we have another off-season like the past we will be hard to beat.... I stand by that... IF we have an offyseason like past years.... yep we will fall back to mediocrity... 9-7... 8-8.... hard to see a return to the 3-13 with the players on the roster...

Chill.....

Don't know how this happened but it was supposed to be in another thread!

Just remember this conversation, because I will...however, if things don't work out like your "realistic" expectations, I doubt anyone will be seeing you around here anyway

We've seen fans of other teams do what you are doing all the time. The eagle fans come here every year boasting and braging about how bad they are...and they have absoutely NOTHING to show for it...nothing at all.

You have not experienced the success and failure like a Cowboy fan has, so we know how it works...you on the other hand, have one good season and now your team is as good as sliced bread?

It don't work that way...but, then again, you don't know any better...

Later, I think I'll take your advice, crack open a beer, and chill....

Think I'll join you... Oh wait.. Already have...lol....

And no I have not experienced the thrill of 5 SB wins.... Not exactly sure what that means... Does that make you smarter than me??? Don't think so... Really don't.....Your football team was not very good last year... Mine was pretty good.... Not great by any stretch.... Am I excited... yep I am... But I am NOT talking smack.... I am talking football...

I can't imagine any impartial observer looking at a roster that has the skilled players that we have entering their primes and not judging that team as having a chance to do something good next year.. some of you seem to think 3-13 is more likely.... Do you really think that is so???

If so I'd say you may want to go hug those Super Bowl trpohies cause you "aint a very astute observor".......

My point did a fly by.

In 2006 you played Green Bay and San Francisco, who like you guys finished last in their division in 2005. Those 2 wins against basement dweller teams helped you finish 10-6.

In 2007 because you finished first in your division you will face 2 other NFC division winners in addition to your own division, which let's face it was weak in 2006, you guys will face the NFC West and AFC South and you're going to play the Eagles at Home and the Bears in Chicago.

In other words, your schedule in 2007 is going to be a little rougher.

I'm not saying you will stumble and fail. I'm saying it could be a disappointing year because that's what happens in the NFL. It happened to us in 2004 after a decent 2003.
