Anyone else hear the Cooley interview?

Sorry I was jumping into the shower before I posted this.

Cooley stated that Parcells and Jerry said he would never become a starter in this league and that he was at best a 2nd tight end or special teams player. And that they wouldnt draft him before the 5th round.

The truth hurts. For some guys you tell them something like that and they work harder to prove people wrong. In Chris's case....he proved them right.

I'm sure people told Romo similar things or Miles Austin or even Antonio Brown that who right now is looking like one of the most dominant players in the league.

Have to say that if the front office is telling that to a bunch of players, that comes across to me as highly unprofessional.

That said, I hate Chris Cooley, and I was never afraid of the guy hurting this team.

I don't know....I can't really see Jerry doing something like that.

Like who drafts a player and tells them "Ayyy you're not going to ever amount to anything BUT we'll use a 5th rounder on you...". That doesn't really make any sense to me. Even if you draft someone in the 7th round don't you expect them to be a player? Like who drafted Antonio Brown in the 6th round and thought he'd be one of the best players in the league? Did he just luck up into it or did they see something in him to warrant a draft selection?

I think Cooley is full of it.

Parcells was actually very interested in drafting him as an Hback and he would have never started with Witten here. I don't think he's too bright and just didn't take it too well. Thin skinned. He made this complaint way back after the draft as well.

The difference is Parcells actually drafted Witten. He didn't draft Cooley. That illustrates what Parcells truly thought about both Witten and Cooley no matter what he said.

In reading how Parcells operated, it was very likely he did this just to see the reaction of the player. Did they sit back and take the criticism? Did they get angry? Did it motivate them?
