I live in DC and when ever a cowboys game comes up, Cooley tells this story. While I think it's true, I doubt they were as blunt as Cooley makes it seem. Also fwiw, Cooley also says only 2 teams showed any real interest in him (DAL and WSH) and only those 2 teams interviewed him, so while he seems to hold a grudge against us, every other team besides Washington, felt the same way.

And granted, they were all wrong, but with Witten entering his second season, why would we spend more than a 5th on a TE?

In an age where TEs seemed to be getting bigger and faster, Cooley was a guy with average athleticism who was a bit undersized. To be honest, they used him coming out of the backfield a lot early in his career. Almost they way the Pats used Hernandez

They may have been wrong on their evaluation but I don't believe they just bluntly came out and said that to him. Doesn't pass the smell test for me.

I agree. And if there was truth to it I would imagine we'd hear a bunch of guys coming out and saying this. Unless Cooley is the one they only ever said it about. Maybe they said something along the lines and Cooley is just boosting it up some. But you don't draft a player with a 5th round pick and think he sucks.

Look no further than the videos he made implicating Witten and Romo were gay, with ex-teammate and future LA Kiss cut Colt Brennan. Those were totally hater-ific, and they made several of them.
