I was amused to see that LA refused to allow the SF press bait him into saying anything about Tuna, and that befitting his long time habit of saying little off the field, continued to display his authenticity by not getting emotional over his "return".

49ERS NOTEBOOK
Allen's Dallas homecoming no big deal to him

Larry Allen may be many things -- fearsome blocker, awesome strongman, Rolls Royce owner -- but an old softie is not one of them.
Allen played 12 years with the Dallas Cowboys and earned a reputation as one of the best guards in pro football history. Yet he said he felt nothing special about returning to Dallas as a new member of the San Francisco 49ers.
"Not really,'' he said Friday as the 49ers prepared to fly to Dallas on their charter flight. "Just another road trip. Might be a little weird.''
Asked if he planned to speak to Cowboys coach Bill Parcells, who was not enamored with the massive guard the last couple years, Allen said no and added, "You trying to start some (stuff).''
DeLoach looks to play: DE Jerry DeLoach, who has been out the last two weeks with a knee injury, hopes to get on the field tonight and see if the knee holds up.
"I'll be suiting up. I'm hoping to get some snaps,'' he said. "It feels good. I'm just glad I get a chance to get out there.''
DeLoach has been in the league six years, long enough to realize that missing practice time imperils a player's chances of making the regular season roster.
"I know how the game is,'' he said. "Hopefully it hasn't (hurt my chances), but you can't control injuries. That's a certainty about the game.''
Briefly: Rookies Michael Robinson and Delanie Walker will get opportunities to return kickoffs tonight, but Maurice Hicks will be the primary return specialist in the regular season. Still, the 220-pound Robinson and the 237-pound Walker give the 49ers a pair of intriguing prospects for a job usually manned by smaller men. "We do have two big guys,'' coach Mike Nolan said. "There is a moment on kickoff returns when the hole opens for only so long, so you look for a speed guy.'' ... Guard Adam Snyder (biceps) made the trip to Dallas but will not play tonight. ... The 49ers have played the Cowboys 12 times in preseason, the last time in 1987. Back when the NFL spread preseason games around the country, the two teams played in Seattle (1960), Sacramento (1961-62), Bakersfield (1963) and Portland (1964-65-66). Only once did they play an exhibition in Dallas (1978).
