Anyone else think Romo should stand 1-2 yards deeper in the shotgun?

This has been an on going problem all year. It seems every game there are at least 2 times where Romo barely catches the snap before it hits him in the head. Even when they are on the same page, it appears the ball gets there almost before he can react to it. Would standing a little further back help this and also eliminate Gurode snapping it over his head. Part of this may be Romo reading the defense until the last minute but man he cutts it soo close sometimes that he barely catches the snap.

It's either do that or scoot up to about a foot off of Gurode's rear-end and catch it on its way up. :D

Gurode scares me.... He should be practicing his shotgun snaps all week until they play the jets

I had the same thoughts about possibly moving Romo back an extra yd or 2. Not exactly sure why Gurode can't get this corrected. It's like the gang who couldn't shoot straight

I wouldn't move Romo back. You're putting your tackles on an even bigger island; the angle a speed rusher uses is much smaller and they have much more room to cut back to the middle.

Illegal formation?

Im not too sure.

Think about the punt formation, field goals, and the victory formation...

I'm almost sure the only formation rules there are is that you need 7 guys on the LOS, and both tackles have to be covered. Other than that, you can put guys anywhere.

Maybe give Romo a step-ladder... or a phonebook.

Speaking of, is there anyway to retract Pro Bowl Votes, *cough* Gurode *Cough* :p

We might need to sub in centers on shotgun... pain in the *** and shouldn't have to be done but... maybe.

but the field goal and punt are different types.

On offense, i think you have to line-up 5 yards behind the LOS.

Somebody want to look it up?

I could be wrong, but if Romo went back 2 yards more snaps would fly over his head. The snap seems to be rising at a very steep angle and if Tony backed up the ball would be too high to even knock it down. I think Guroude just needs to flatten out his angle of release.

It's not a different type; you possess the ball and have 4 plays to get a first down. If those plays were different, then fake punts and fake field goals wouldn't be allowed.

The thing that sucks is that the snaps aren't even close. I get nervous now every time we run shotgun. It's pretty sad.

I feel like we have Vanderschank again.

I remember crossing my fingers and toes before every kick... now I find myself doing that in every shotgun formation.

No, the center needs to snap it where the QB always stands.

Gurode's shotgun snaps have been piss-poor all year. Sailed it over Romo's head in the Rams game, hit Romo with it before he was ready in week 1... and MANY other times where Romo either had to reach up high to corral it, or reach quickly to his left or right. I even remember an incident where Romo quickly did a full 360 spin after catching a snap way to his left.

I was shocked that we kept going into shotgun yesterday... Gurode needs to clean it up.
