Anyone else think Shaun Alexander is soft

Alexander is a stud, plain and simple! The OL argument is EXACTLY the same thing people said about Emmitt and they were dead wrong.

I don't understand why we have to hate on every player from every other team. I understand if it's the Skins or another rival, but take a look at the guy's career from high school to the pro level and he's been nothing but a yardage machine and TD machine.

I saw him first-hand in College many times and he simply couldn't be stopped.
I said when he came out of college he was the only back that ever reminded me of Emmitt with his uncanny ability to simply get the football across the goalline and score TDs. Sure enough, look at his career so far and this year. He's a TD machine.

If that "soft" label exists it's probably what kept him from being picked in the top 5 where he should have been picked and made him slide to the later part of the first round. Big mistake on a lot of teams part and Seattle caught a break having our pick that year.

he sure looked soft when he was clapping and jumping up and down when hasselback scored.lol.

I had mad respect for him in Alabama, but what happened?Sure ,he scored 28 Td's and won the rushing title,League MVP,Offensive MVP and alot of awards, but I wanna question his heart.
Perhaps he was aware of the fact that he only had 64 rushing yards in the first matchup vs.the skins.Maybe he new he was going to get punished by that Commanders D.I wanna question that hit he took that caused the concussion.People who get concussions don't jump around on the sidelines.
Majority of his big runs are because he isn't touched and his speed.Yes,I cannot deny the fact, that numbers don't lie.He is a good back and maybe what I am saying is pointless.
If I am not mistaken they did a poll on ESPN(by the players) a few months ago, that rated Alexander the most over-rated backs in the league.Maybe this guy cannont take the big hits and hides his self centerless fear of getting hit.Or,maybe the players around the league no that this guy is soft and doesnt deserve the respect he gets

Is soft slang for great? If so then yes he is very soft!

You don't get 28 TDs in one season in the NFL by being soft. He is probably the closest thing to money when the Seahawks get close to the goalline. You could say Bettis, but Alexander has to take a beating all game long. Money backs on the goalline aren't soft. This thread is ludicrous.

I think he was only one yard short last season. IIRC, there was a big stink about it last year, because the Seahawks had a short yardage goal-line play where Holmgren actually pulled him from the game.

He didn't pull him Hasselbank went in on a sneak.

The guy has been a warrior the last few years, Im not going to call him soft after one stupid concussion. That is crazy. You can argue he has been the most consistent RB in the NFL over the last 3 years.

Oh dear god what is it the Northwestern air or something that makes people automatically underate the value of a running back up there or seomthing or more correctly give all the credit to the olines? Same damned thing was said about Portis after he left Denver. People questioned his toughness. His heart. Then gave all the credit to Denver's oline saying he would NEVER beable to reproduce those numbers anywhere else. Guess what- most of you were wrong about him and most of you are wrong about Alexander.

And in this case (different from Portis) Alexander runs straight up, like Eric Dickerson used to, which of course makes it look like he's taking more then he can give. Defensive players have more body to cue up on for the hit.

And here's another thought, but maybe he wasn't really that hurt, maybe it was a mild concussion. Maybe they didn't see the need in jeapodizing making it any worse by playing their star player in a situation that didn't truly demand his pressence on the field. Why the hell not sit him and get him ready for the bigger game this weekend?

Hell I wish something interesting would happen in Cowboyland because some of these posts are really reaching. In fact, 9/10 of the posts these days are really reaching and seem more personal driven then anything else. Lets start a thread next talking about one players personal choice of wearing black sneakers over white...

I don't think he's soft, but dude sure disappears come playoff or crunch time. Kinda like Peyton....

he disappears when the running gets tougher, the defenses get better, and the hits get harder....
He played in the weakest division in football with one of the best OLs in the league and rolled up fantasy-like numbers. Whenever he played the tougher defenses (including ours), he did nothing.
I think he's a very good RB and I thought he was an absolute stud at Alabama (see Orange Bowl game vs Michigan) but I've yet to see him turn in a big game in the clutch vs a good team. This is where the comparison to Emmitt vanishes, Emmitt turned in some BIGTIME performances against BIGTIME opponents, in fact a lot of his best games were when it mattered most.
Its not just this past week's concussion or whatnot, its a summation indictment against Alexanders entire NFL career....that he's not very tough or lacks heart because of the aforementioned reasons. I, too, question these.
Anyway, he has a BIGTIME opportunity to shut me and other critics up this weekend against a great defense and he could have another BIGTIME opportunity against another good defense if they go to the SB.
In fact, for Seattle to win, it will probably take a big day from Alexander. If he wimps out again....well I'll call him at home and tell him he's a wuss
