Anyone else's expectations for 2010 higher than for 2009 season?

Based on the brutal schedule and assuming no changes in the oline then I'd say this is a 9-7 team.

However some smart personal moves between now & September could up raise the stakes.
A brutal schedule based on what? No one knows how tough the schedule will be and making that assumption on January 18th is silly.

I would like to see this team focus on first and always winning the division and shoot for a bye or homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. I would also like to see us address competition for the oline starting positions, a decent backup QB, and shore up the secondary a little bit more. I think this team can really take off like they did in 07 but hopefully this time finish the job at the end of the season.

In 2007 we went 13-3, and decided to maintain the status quo.

Early reports are that we're looking at doing the same thing next year.

I guess natural progression of the team, which is young and didn't really find itself til late in the season, could lead me to believe that we'll be better.

But other than that I don't see any reason to believe right now. A great draft could change everything.

Oh look.

The realists are back.

They're about the same. 8-8 or 9-7 team that will need luck to get into the playoffs. At some point they will be whipped in a way that'll embarrass Cowboys fans everywhere. Maybe just maybe, that'll prompt some change, but don't count on it.

Look, some things you just can't flush.

If Wade and company STAY then my hopes actually go up....hear me out on this...as I've also never been a fan of this hiring....

If we lost Wade, the defense starts over. I think that we saw that our D finally got their identity towards the end of the year....I think this continues.

The wildcard is Garrett....does he recognize that MBIII is a drive-killer? Does he understand that throwing that Razorback in there at the 10 after driving all that way was a drive-killer? If he can figure things out we get better....enough of being #2 in yards gained on Offense and middle of the pack in scoring. He's gotta figure out a way to stop killing drives.

If that happens, then of course the sky is the limit....if not, he's gotta go.

Our defense is good enough to win games.....the O needs to get there to finish the job.

One place where we may catch a break, and it's a big "if", is that Warner and Favre retire. Obviously, it's too early to say today. But it wouldn't surprise me if at least one of the guys retired end of this season.

THis year was the year to win the SB if you ask me. We were about as lucky as any team could get without having to suffer major injuries to key positions.

Next season we're going to get a tough schedule and our Division isnt getting any easier.

I think We need some changes and some better players to get further then this year. Garrett needs to go and we need better more agile offensive linemen.

I expect 10-6 and a NFC Championship Appearance, why 10-6? Because we have the hardest schedule imagineable, only 5 games are "Easy" side, the other 11 are playoff caliber games.

Maybe without favre they wont be able to score on us but That Defense they have just put the biggest *** whoopin on ou offense that I have ZERO confidence in facing them again.

I'll take my chances with T Jackson or whoever. Favre has given that entire team a lift. I'm not saying it will be easy, but our chances definitely improve without Favre and Warner.

MUCH higher. Esp with no salary cap and increased flexibility(i know it means we cant spend like crazy but maybe we can cut some dead weight)
If we get a True NT in fa, maybe a safety or tackle in the draft. My expectations are nfc championship game.

the 2nd half this year was supposed to be brutal too...

btw we aren't going anywhere w/ Gurode as the starting C

but I got us around 11 wins again, next year

And how on that "break".

Would love to see both leave the game. :D

Go 7-1 at home and split your road games. Our home schedule isn't that hard.

We can win at Houston, Zona, skins , packers/min and maybe at giants/ Philly

10-12 wins.

Schedule next year dampens expectations for me.

We might win our divison again, simply because the other teams have taken a step back ( Giants and Eagles, the Skins are rebuilding) but Homefield advantage in the playoffs is what we need, and I don't see us winning enough games to get that.

One and done again next year. :banghead:

People need to quit whining about next years schedule....how many times have we seen a 13-3 team go to a 3-13 season and vice versa.

Bring it on.....and I also want retribution on Favre......

I hope Warner comes back as I just like the guy and think that he is STILL one of the top QB's in the league.....

Not unless the teams on or schedule end up sucking. Our schedule is brutal and I can see it being tough to win 10 games.

If our staff would churn the roster, not play players based on compensation or cost of trade, I'd have more confidence, but the already aging offensive line will be older and will make it difficult on Romo.

If we have developed lineman that I am unaware of that can make an impact next year, we get our running back rotation tweaked, improve on defense and develop or acquire some more receiving threats, then my expectations will improve.

Ridiculous post.

"About the same 8-8....need luck...."
What are you talking about? What "luck" did we need? Sweeping Philly? Winning in New Orleans? We didn't need luck or help! Did you miss this past season or something and are going back to 2009 pre-season "realism"?
We were 11-5, won the division and had a great playoff win.
Yesterday sucked, but it doesn't negate what happened prior to that game.
