Is it at the stores yet? Or any of the other new ones? I haven't had time to check out the stores since 6/6 when it was suppose to be available.

Only pic of the annuals I've found is Steet and Smith's.

Nah, the only stuff I get are TSN's scouting reports, Pro Football Prospectus, and KC Joyner's Scientific Football.

Most of the annuals stuff tell me things I pretty much already know.

Oh yeah, I got it. And, let me tell how amused I was when they rated the NFC East to finish in this order:

1. Philly
2. NY
3. Dallas
4. Wash

They actually rated Philly's RB situation higher than Dallas. That was all I needed to see to make me laugh.

Is KC Joyner's Scientific Football worth it?

And I've never heard of Pro Football Prospectus, how good is that?

I always buy Lindy's as it is one of the best. I usually get TSN and PFW as well, but that's it.

I never touch Street and Smith's or Athlon's as both are more outdated than the others and not nearly as concise. And I hate those gambling rags that pose as annuals.

I made a mistake once of sending in for a free issue of one of those gambling rags.

I still get those things five years later.

Looks like tomorrow I might have to check out Border's and see if some magazines are out on my way to Golfer's Paradise....

Seems like that order of finish is exactly backwards of how I would pick it.

Those are the same ones I buy as well. The only one I've seen so far is Pro Football Weekly's.

They seem to be struggling recently and I think they wanted to get the jump on the competition.

I thought it was out way earlier than it usually was. The analysis isn't all that great, but PFW has taken a serious downturn in the last five years or so. I like the depth charts and extra game by game statistical breakdown they provide the best.

Ever since Joel Buschbaum passed away.

He was the heart and soul of that company

The guy who handles their analysis now plays favorites and disregards what the players actually accomplish on the field

RIP Joel, this fan misses ya!

I bought PFW's and thought it was a pretty good rag for what it was. Not too in depth, but then again, compared to Phil Steele's College Football mag which I bought along with it, I think anything looks meager.

Same here.

Nolan Nawrocki I think is his name. He's terrible.

Well, at least they got the #4 right. ;)

Got it yesterday at the local supermarket. Lindy's has always been my favorite, whether it's college or the pro's. Hilarious were picked 3rd by lindy's, but i browsed thru athlon's version and they had us projected first in the division.

I think so. I don't think he's completely accurate, but I think he gives a good ballpark figure on players.

The new book is supposed to have more analysis on more positions like running backs and O-Line play (before it was just QB's, DB's, WR's, and TE's). I thought the old one was worth $50. The new book will have more info and only costs $30 this time around.

And I've never heard of Pro Football Prospectus, how good is that?

Go to the footballoutsiders.com web site for the Prospectus book

It's a similar type of book as both were influenced by baseball's stat guy Bill James. Joyner's is more of a pure scouting report whereas Pro Football Prospectus is more pure, stats and number crunching. Again, I don't think it gives a completely accurate picture, but it gives a good ballpark.

I'm not afraid to say it's well worth $13.

Rich.........
even if Aaron Schatz doesn't like me. :)
