I used to build the old NASCAR cars that came out. This is one like I did.

I loved doing the muscle cars as well. I think I am going to do this one as my first attempt back into the hobby,

Pretty cool... never built a chopper...

My pride and joy was identical to the one below except I made it solid black instead of red. It was wicked looking. 5'+ wingspan and 125 mph...

Nice Raven!

This thread is right up my alley. Been flying R/C for about 20 years now. I posted the below pic in another thread, but it should be in this one as well.

Wow, that is a sweet plane! I think I still have a pic of my Raptor 50, but I know I haven't seen it in a very long time.

Close!

It's a Junkers JU-87 Stuka.

What did you have for power on your Raven?

Same here. O.S. 50 engine and , Fubuta Radio, Servos, and Gyro.

I wanted an 80, but I figured I would start with the smaller 50. I ended up moving to NY before I ever upgraded to the 80. Once I arrived here, my R/C days were over. About a year and a half after moving here, I just ended up selling it all for $875 to some dude in Utah on Ebay.

It was way to much fun to have to have given up on it. :(

Can't beat an O.S.

There not the cheapest, but are definitely the most reliable I've found through the years.

Used to love to build models with my dad as a kid. Had dozens of planes hanging from my ceiling...

As a young adult I started building my own R/C planes. Building then flying them is really cool. Unless you crash... :(

For me that only took like a minute on 3 different occasions. If my dad didn't run the store where they were sold, I probably wouldn't have gotten them at all. But yeah, it looks like fun. I was just never good enough to make them stay in the air.

I found out the hard way a few times...

You can go with performance engines, or engines that will fly your plane, consistently and reliably...

O.S. is the ONLY way to go for 2 cycle engines... Saito on 4 cycle engines...

Lucky me, I had someone right off the bat that said OS is the only way to go. :)

I helped build a friends plane for a 4 cycle...

If I had had it to do over again, I would have built my Raven to take a Saito 4 cycle...

O.S. is GREAT... Saito 4 cycle is like butter...

I built a LOT of planes with friends and we outfitted them with a lot of different engines...

2 Cycle: O.S.
4 Cycle: Saito

Everyone else is in the dust... O.S. builds a really fine 4 cycle as well, but nothing like Saito...

Now radios are a WHOLE different animal... I like Futaba and JR although I had some good luck with a Hitec radio once... never owned an Airtronics though I hear thy make some good radios...

Saito has definitely come a long way in the last 10 years or so. Their 1.80 is strong.

I've always used YS for four strokes. To this day, I've never had one shut off on me unless a fuel line popped off or I had the throttle trim set too low for idle.

Transmitter wise, I've always used Futaba, but you can pretty much flip a coin between Futaba and JR right now. Hitec and Airtronics have done well making more affordable 8-10 channel transmitters.

I wish I would've stayed longer out flying today! haha Just beautiful in Tampa. 65 degrees, no humidity...not a cloud in the sky.
