Anyone know Crayton's thoughts on the new trade?

I think Crayton was making his way back into the 3rd WR spot anyhow. When Miles came in, he moved to the slot. (well, unless TO moved to the slot) Considering Miles was starting to make plays, Miles could have become the starter in the not to distant future had they not traded for Williams.

I don't know how he really feels guess what neither do you. We can both sit here and put words in his mouth and act like we know how he feels or accept the fact of what Crayton said. In the end all I care about is Crayton doing the job that is asked of him if he does that then that is all that matters.

Move your fat behind and let me co-sign your post.

Barring no WR pickups, do you see Miles coming back as the two next year? And yes, that would mean Owens was out.

The Crayton signing makes me wonder about our scouting staff. How did they look at all of those players in college and say that we cannot replace Crayton in the draft? Just off the top of my head I can name 10 WR rookies I would take over Crayton who's contract may prevent another resign. The problem is deeper than we think I really don't think its the GM!

I am a Crayton fan. Always have been, always will be, and I will not ever appologize for that fact. I thought he was a good #2 but I was never opposed to the idea of getting someone like RW to be an upgrade at the #2 spot and allow Crayton to play the slot #3 spot where he's even better.

I don't think this move means, at all, that Crayton sucks or hasn't done everything this organization has asked of him. It just means they had a chance to get a better #2 option and took it. That's football.

Besides what more can Crayton really be expected to do? The guy was like a 7th round draft choice, out of a small school, and converted from QB to WR. I'd say given all this that he's been an outstanding player for us in that regard.

Well if he was stepping up, making plays and taking some of the double & triple teams away from TO then we wouldn't of need to give up a 1st R dub.

Nope he didn't make as many plays as some would like but the guy wasn't horrible either. But if you get a shot to get a RW for your #2 spot why would you NOT make that move? Crayton was never going to be the threat that an RW would be at that spot cause he doesn't have RW's size or speed.

There is no doubt that on paper it looks great. We shall see.

1. Owens
2. Williams
3. Crayton (also PR)
4. Austin (also KR)
5. Stanback (KR, special teams when not inactive)

Plus

1. Witten
2. Bennett
3. Curtis

Crayton comments about Williams coming was positive and I think Crayton has shown in the past that he is a better slot WR. Having Owens and Williams on the outside with Crayton in the slot I think will benifet everyone

In my opinion, Crayton is the best slot receiver in the league.

We now have 3 deadly passing targets, and the best slot receiver in the game.

Why cant football be played on paper? Actually, scratch that.

Seems reality showed the fact that Crayton was servicable, but no threat as a #2. It's not a slam against him, but if he was doing the job of #2, teams wouldn't have been able to simply double cover Owens all day long.

A real #2 would have made opposing defenses pay for that coverage, something Crayton was unable to do.

If there wasn't a need, there wouldn't have been a trade.

But rather than looking at any of this as a negative, we can see the positives this trade will bring.

Owens will get less double-teams, Williams will excel given less coverage, and Crayton does his best work in the slot.

Looks like a win-win-win scenario to me.

Miles should be the happiest one of all because initially he was included in the trade, but Jerry changed his mind at the last minute and shipped a 3rd rounder to Detroit instead. Instead of a 1st, 3rd and 6th, it would have been a 1st, Austin and 6th. Not being a part of the Lions roster is reason enough for Austin to celebrate.

I'm sure the injury to Felix influenced Jerry's decision. Without Austin, we wouldn't have a proven kick returner right now.

Really? I'm glad he didn't trade Austin. I really like that kid. It seems like whenever we need a play he steps up.
