Anyone listening to local radio here? I want to hang myself

Seriously, are the fans who call the stations the biggest idiots? Are they all really as foolish as they sound and is this why the radio shows are geared toward catering to them?

Norm hitzges is absolutely awful this morning, the fans calling are just as bad as they were last sunday night and it is the same way on the fan.

THere have to be some fans out there who are not tools right? I have grown so tired of listening to the same generic arguments and the same fans calling up and asking for people to be fired and removed.

Norm must not watch alot of football on sunday's, I am convinced now more than ever he just reads stats sheets and forms opinions. He comes on the air today and said a defensive coordinator in the league told him this week Dallas has a 2 and 3 3's at wr. Why bring this argument up again. And by the way the DC is Jim Bates, that is norms friend.

sorry for ranting. I just wish instead of crying about everything and calling radio stations and firing everyone maybe this city could rally around the team and nevermind the extreme stuff.

like I said earlier, pass me some rope I cant take much more of it.

So do the Jets. It's not stopping them from winning. WR is the most overhyped position in the league. You CAN win Super Bowls without a top tier WR. The Ravens, Bucs, Steelers and Pats have all done it in the past decade.

Have long contended we had one of the least intelligent fan bases.

We also have possibly the worst media coverage of any major sports teams. The writers that cover us are atrocious.

Well I disagree on both points.

The crazy irrational fans drown out the good ones.

and the media here is actually not bad. Todd Archer is excellent and Babe laufenberg is off the charts, best in the buisness at what he does.

and to piggy back that I think that this market has the best broadcasters Radio/tv of any other market.

Is it too much for you to realize they are like that instead of complaining about?

Not being sarcastic but do you really expect otherwise when you read this board and see how many fans here act?

I quit listening to the ticket a couple years ago due to the idiocy of that station and the fans calling in.

Just a waste of time and no sense of bothering with it IMO.

However if you are going to still listen to it, just know you are going to have that kind of stuff, whether it is justified or not.

wow did I really do or say something that has bothered you so much? I was asking if other people in this market are getting worn out by the same stuff.

I enjoy listening to sports radio.

Is it too much to ask that fans be more rational as opposed to me having to just turn it off?

How should a rational fan conduct himself, in your opinion?

By watching the game, watching as much of other games as they can and making an informed opinion.

By really thinking about what they saw happen and why it happened.

and finally, most of all, understanding that the other team gets paid too and in this instance last week, they were and are the better team.

Is that too much? It doesnt mean you cant be frustrated or upset.

Did not bother me at all.

I just don't get why people get so riled up at something that happens quite a bit with cowboy fans, and fans of other teams and would rather listen to it and complain about it rather than to just turn it off.

If it really bothers you that much, don't listen to it. It is how the media is now days and not just sports media. Hoopla, doom and gloom and if it bleeds it leads is the norm now. I doubt it changes any time soon because they know that normal, calm and logic does not get the ratings or reactions.

Norm Hitzges is one of the most knowledgeable sports figures in D/FW.

Why should you blame Norm for what the fans say and what a defensive coordinator told him about our Wide Receivers?

FWIW, I think that Defensive Coordinator could have a point about our current crop of Wide Receivers.

I will absolutely guarantee you, that you will agree with those fans if we lose to the Carolina Panthers.

I can't wait to listen to the local radio station when I go on break.

dont be misunderstood. I really like norm. And as I said to reality, I dont doubt that our wr core gets viewed very poorly.

I have also said that the numbering system applied to wr, to me is neither here nor there...imo. I want to see them perform as a group, play well as a group and win the game. That is all anyone cares about.

I am just grumpy with norm for bringing up yet another thing for fans to begin screaming about again today, it has finally died down.

And I guarantee you I will think the same of this team tonight win or lose. Its very early and I kind of thought we would struggle early in the year.

Norm used to be the best they had on that show. I think he was the only one that did not have some lame humor segments on his show and just talks sports.

He was annoying when he would get in his super excited state and sound like he was slobbering all over the mic but he was still the best show by far on that station.

Don't know if he has changed to the shock jock type of person now as I don't listen to that station anymore except for Draft coverage.

No, he's not a shock value guy by any means. Its the same show it has always been.

Theebs, you know that has been how Norm operates after a loss.

He gets really riled up and most of the phone calls are from people that share his view point.

Like the rest of us, Norm has seen this before and I think he is just plain annoyed with what is going on, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

If this team loses to the 0-2 Carolina Panthers who benched their Quarterback at one point, I don't see how anyone wouldn't change their opinion of them.

Also, why did you think we would struggle early? We are a better football team then 2 out of the 3 opponents we will have faced and the Giants are not head and shoulders better than we are.

I think this team is 2-1 after tonight. If we lose, it will probably be because of the Defense.

That's good...wish he would move on to another station that streamed via the internet...another station that did not follow a similar format as the ticket.

And for those that defend the ticket, I know it gets ratings and blah blah blah...sorry I like to laugh and joke as much as the next guy but their stuff just was lame and I did not want to tune in for an hour to get 15-20 minutes of sports talk and the rest being gay or not gay and other bits.

But that's what we love about Norm :laugh2: .

I thought we would struggle early because of all the change. I figured there would be a lot of pressure on romo and the passing game. Lots of new faces on defense. I just thought we would struggle to be efficient and score points.

The opposite has happened though, the offense I think is ok, the special teams appear to be outstanding, hopefully the defense bumps it up.

and as far as norm goes, its fine when he yells and screams on the postgame show and on the day or two after....but he gets to me when he speaks in absolute terms through generic comments, and in turn gets people going.

norm has such a large audience he can almost create what the new negative topic of the day will be and I just hate that he started with the wr stuff again!!!

:laugh2: I would laugh when he would do a promo. I have to hand it to him and you know the businesses would love him doing it because he put his all in and made it sound like it was the best product or service in the world with that slobbering almost climatic delivery.

Norm is like one of those uncles you love but at the same time think is a bit off and embarrassing.

Guess your entitled to your opinion, but there's alot of evidence out there that points to the contrary.

And Archer& Laufenberg are the exceptions, not the norm.

Well, someone got up on the wrong side of the Speed Racer bed this morning.

Honestly, the only thing worse with idiotic fans are fans who think that everybody else does not know football and only he is fit to set the agenda as to what to discuss.

Git real!

Tolerence is not a bad thing.
the sooner you will git that the sooner you will git out of that teenage "everyone-is-crazy-and-stoopid" frame of mind.

Yes, pls. set the agenda with only what you think is fit to be discussed and the world will be so much better . . . .

I agree with you.

However, the Cowboys are 11-11 in the past 22 games, and 1-3 in the last four games. The Cowboys have the 32nd ranked defense in the NFL, and a turnover-prone offense. Most importantly, they haven't won a playoff game in 12 years.

Even the most rational fans will struggle finding reasons for positivity.
