Anyone notice that Keys gets way more love on the Panthers than he did with us

When he was with us the media was quick to call him over the hill and even more slow and plodding than he had been for his career

Now in Carolina all of that talk is just gone and Key is hero in the media's eyes

Just a small little observation

Actually I think its because, any positive about Keyshawn, is a negative on us to the media.

Like we messed up letting him go.

Key always got a bad rap for not really much at all.

Hes got a kind of heart and passion that I dont think was matched on last years team

Yeah this is another reason
I think that both answers are correct

I always check myself and make sure that I'm not just being a noid Cowboys fan but then subtle things like the difference in covering Key happens and it justifies my paranoia

It's just a little unbelievable

You are right though
Propping up Key is an indirect way to attack the Cowboys/T.O.

For the record I always liked Key as a Cowboy
This isn't a Keyshawn Johnson bashing post
Any compliments he is getting this year are true but he didn't get as much when he was with us
Anyone giving Keyshawn credit was always a voice of reason and not the majority like right now

are we so conceited in ourselves (or our team) that we think every comment (negative comments of course, every sports writter/reporter hates the cowboys the the bones!) made about every single cowboys player (past or present) is somehow related to the cowboys?

I don't think it is some big elaborate plan but maybe a little subconscious

I wouldn't put anything past the media that could make Terrell Owens look bad though
I don't think they have especially did that with Key but believe, he is definitely looked at in a different light now that he is on a media darling team rather than the Cowboys

Like I said, he always got a bad rap. He was negatively thought of before we traded for him. But I think once he came to Dallas, footballs most hated team, it multiplied. then add the sideline shouting match w/ Drew (Which was forgotten about the next day, but the media still claims that to be a reason why Drew and TO cant get along) and he is a villian.

Not so much anymore, he escaped from the evil franchise, landed on everyones superbowl pick and is having a nice year, so Dallas messed up.

I wanted him, TO, and Glenn so I have no problem w. him

Many of the negative comments he got here were from the Dallas media. They love to rag on the Cowboys. I loved having Key on the team. The guy made the really tough catches and did everything he could to win.

maybe not everyone might be but i am. We could take this from key to M.I. and how he gets rejected from the H.o.F. I'm sure an older member of the cowboys family could name a past past cowboy great that got a H.o.F. snubb. Didn't it take Ray W. 12 or some odd years to get in?

Key is a great player - he's cocky etc. but he's all about the team and doing whatever it takes to win.

His career might have been much different if we could have traded for him instead of Galloway -- Jerry commented that year that Key wasn't available when we got Joey (he was traded about a month later). What a great fit would have been as Irvin's replacement.....

Keyshawn has been able to step his game up to an even higher level with Smith opposite him. As good a complement as Glenn was, we can all recognize that Glenn isn't in Smith's class. Comprable in size and style, but obviously not the same. Teams are so afraid of Smith that it's allowed Keyshawn to become an even bigger threat.

And he was pretty durn good here to begin with.

I don't think he's so much overrated as a Panther as he was underrated as a Cowboy.

the real reason is that he has a coach that plays to his star players strength instead of making shoving some bs old school football ideology down their throats....we will never make it to the Super Bowl, much less the playoffs with Parcells as coach. The guy just doesn't understand todays elite players...or he is just such an ego maniac, he can't stand to have a someone on the team to shine brighter than himself......I'm not surprised that Keshawn is playing well since he left the Cowboys.

Key has most of his yards and catches before Smith came back to play. He is still good, but his numbers have come back to Earth.

Yeah, why can't we get one of those hip, young, up-and-coming, unconventional, new-school offensive football minds like Dan Henning insead of a paleolithic dinosaur like Parcells?

His numbers aren't really that different with or without Smith..

He averaged 4.5 catches for 73 yards and 0 TDs per game minus Smith.

With him, he's averaged 5.75 catches for 68 yards and .5 TDs.

i loved the physicality keyshawn brought to our passing game - he was a demon as a blocker in the run game as far as receivers go.

owens brings similar physicality - not as adept as a blocker but overpowers most DBs in the passing game.

the big difference with owens is after the catch. keyshawn prepared for the hit and hung onto the ball.

owens will break a tackle, bust a move, and blaze downfield for a score.

this aspect of his game will become apparent to all before the season plays out. it may even make a huge difference in the eventual fate of the cowboys.

it's an aspect we weren't gonna get from johnson. and i admired his efforts while he was here.

two similar-yet-vastly-different players.

It cracks me up when people think that the media and league have it out for us.

How long has it been since we mattered? We won a superbowl, what, over ten years ago?

Keyshawn is quietly having a very good year. 30+ catches and is on pace for over 1,100 yards.

Maybe we didn't squeeze out what we could have when it comes to Keyshawn....heck, TO was finally used right last week......5 GAMES INTO THE SEASON. Maybe BP figured something out.

The Cowboys still draw, what, a million more tv viewers per televised game than most other teams. I think it's obvious they get special treatment in the media.

And enough with the 'finally used TO right' stuff. His slow start was directly related to his training camp, and then to his broken hand. It wasn't until the Philly game that he said he finally had is legs under him. He's dropped at least 2 sure TDs that were right in his hands in the Wash and Tenn games that I can recall. That would have given him 6 or so for the season in 5 games. That's a pretty good clip spread over 16 games.
