We have been watching the refs and complaining about being hosed constantly by them. Did anyone see any plays yesterday that raised a brow.

I saw another catch, football move and fumble. And the same Dez catch no catch called a catch yesterday. I guess they changed the rule after they hosed us in the playoffs. The letter of the rule is apparently now if he is contacted by the defender he no longer has to control the ball all the way through.. And I saw a few holds on our Defensive front 4 not called..

I saw nothing yesterday that isnt within the realm of human error.

Dont have any numbers to back it up, but overall it felt like fewer flags flew this week league wide. While I hate the idea of inconsistency in calling games I do hope the message has been sent to let them play down the stretch.

There are going to be bad calls and no calls in every game. They are human and the speed of the game is Fast, like very fast..they will make mistakes. What bothers me is when they make game changing calls, when they haven't called it like that all game. Or when they call a penalty on a rule that hasn't been used in 30 years or if they use the jumbotron to make a call, etc. They do well for the most part but there are times you have to wonder who is betting on the out come of games out there throwing flags.

No, that catch play was a good call. The WR basically had 4 limbs touch the ground as Diggs touched him and THEN the ball came loose. If that's not down by contact, nothing is. Lol.

What's confusing is the going to the ground rule still exists but has been relaxed from overruling the regular upright catch rules. So with the change, now a receiver can complete the upright catch rules on the way to the ground. In 2014, a receiver couldn't and it was basically an either/or situation. That is what did Dez in because although his 3rd foot came down, he was bound by the going to the ground overrule that mandates maintaining possession after contact with the ground and he didn't.

To me it was the right call. It’s the way it always was before the change. But they used it in the playoffs and while it may have been the letter of the law it was just wrong. The man was touched by the defender and went down. Had established a catch and made the move and blah blah blah. Lol. If the correct rule was in place back then it’s a catch and a exciting end to the game. Oh well. Just something I noticed yesterday..

Well, the rule was correct as called in 2014 too. When the league changed the rule, they said that under today's rule, with the change, Dez would have had a catch when his 3rd foot hit down. That's what saved the Giants receiver yesterday.

It’s just a real shame the rule was changed to begin with. Didn’t the lions big name receiver at the time get a td taken from him over the same rule.. It was strange when they called it then.

from the giants game yesterday.
to me...the ball was coming out before the giants shin was on the ground.
i thought we got screwed out of a fumble recovery.

Okay, here's the video (because I knew it'd be an issue today). After 2 steps, I slow the video down. 3rd step is the left shin. The 4th step is the right foot dragging on the ground, all as Diggs touches him in the back. The ball only starts coming out after the foot drag. That's 4 limbs on the ground and a touch by the defender, which is down by contact. If Diggs doesn't touch him then it IS a fumble.
