TO sat out because his hammy was sore. Last year he missed 3 pre-season games because his hammy was sore. Do you think this scimmage is that important that Minn wants to have peterson out there with the mild hip pointer?

dooms - i ain't here to whine at someone *or* get into defense mode. peterson gets hurt more than the average bear. it's not mean to say it, it's not a viscious lie, it's a statement of truth.

if it's mild and just an elbow in his buttocks, get up and go play. would parcells go "does your buttcheeck hurt? please sit down *if you can* and rest the boo boo".

if i were new to the NFL with a legitimate question over me on injuries i'd NOT want to lose ANY time AT ALL due *to* an injury. it's like throwing gas on a fire. unless you want it to flame up and stay on peoples minds, why do it?

Despite injury problems in his three seasons at Oklahoma (dislocated left shoulder, right high ankle sprain, broken right clavicle), Peterson became the first player in school history to eclipse 3,000 rushing yards in two seasons. He ranks second in school history with 747 rushing attempts (sixth in Big Twelve Conference annals), third with 4,045 rushing yards (fifth in conference history) and fourth with 41 touchdowns rushing. His 4,401 all-purpose yards are third on Oklahoma's all-time record list.

like i said - he's phenonimal when on the field, but he's not there that often due to injuries. maybe it's me but 3 injuries in 3 years isn't a good sign.

how many injuries did emmitt have in all his NFL years?

High ankle sprain, the neck injury he sustained against the Bears that keep him out the bone spurs that affected him as well. As for Peterson time will tell but I still think Minn picked a heck of a RB who I think will be a star in this league. Injuries are just a part of the game and I don't think Peterson is more inclined to have an injury than any other player.

Like CB, I don't question his toughness, or his talent/ability. I question his durability...

His upright style could be rough on him in the NFL...

how many injuries did emmitt have? i can't name too many backs that went 3 years w/3 injuries that were *not* considered more than an avg risk. if you feel otherwise that's cool, i just disagree.

my concern as well. man among men when playing but he does find himself hurt enough to call it all into question.

Minnesota Vikings rookie running back Adrian Peterson left Thursday's practice with an injury after taking an elbow to his hip while catching a pass in a drill, but he said it wasn't serious.

"It's not a big deal at all," said Peterson, who called the injury a minor hip pointer.

This was not an elbow to the butt as you put it and while it will have no effect long term it is very painful. As mentioned by another if they had a real game Peterson would be albe to play through it but your talking a scrimmage and Minn is not going to be stupid and putting him out there is something that is pretty meaningless

I don't consider Peterson injury prone fragile little guy if you do fine but injuries happen and no one can predict when a player will get injured. None of us know what is ahead for Peterson he could very well play a long time without sustain any major injuries or he could get his knees ripped up tomorrow but that goes for any player out there.

you his agent? just seems like you're taking some AP critisizm personal.

would it help if i said he was a diamond among rocks and is invincible to all but a once in a lifetime hit that's hit him 3 times so far in his career?

not out to argue dude. he's got some legit ?'s over his injury history and not liking that won't make it go away.

I'm not taking it personal I just think Peterson is an excellent RB and I do expect that he will be a star in this league. Heck I'm a Longhorns fans and can't stand OU but I have followed this guys career and think he will do just fine in the NFL. I also think it was a very good pickup for Minn and I think Peterson will be a big help for that team.

he *is* an excellent RB.

and he's also an RB who's been hurt 3 times in 3 years.

he's also an RB who got an elbow to the topside of his buttocks and is missing time for it.

all those are very true statements. what happens to AP in the end, who knows. if he gets injured in his rookie year, making it 4 for 4, what then? when do injuries become a concern *esp* for a great back in general?

Backfield mate Chester Taylor is also not expected to suit up against the Chiefs. He has been bothered this week by a bruised forearm.

A bruised forearm? If we are going to question anyone's toughness, maybe it should be Chester Taylor's, not Peterson's.

A hip-pointer can be very painful and affects the way you run. A bruised forearm is merely painful but it shouldn't affect the way Taylor runs nor would it put him at risk of a more serious injury.

What a wuss!

Can we at least wait and see what the guy does in his first few NFL games before beating him up and tossing him out as an injury proned RB who won't do anything?

I hate you guys and your crystal balls. For real. I don't have one but if I did. I certainly would not be hear telling you everyone's future. :D

Yes - he has been hurt/played hurt/is hurt for a few years. The kid did do steller things while being that way.

I say give the kid a chance first....thats just me tho.

BTW: we got a snippet of information that Peterson took himself out. We don't know what the coach wants or the trainers want of him. Hell - they could have told him to sit and let it rest.

But here we are beating AD up again because he is FAR to often injured.

why in the name of unholy norse gods do people FREAKING MISS IT when i say peterson *is* a great back.

i've not predicted his future at all have i? i've said 3 years 3 injuries. in that i'm predicting his past and i'm pretty damn good at that, crystal ball or no.

i said he's a legit injury concern - and he is. i've not said he will fail and i've not said he *will* get hurt.

if i were a betting man i'd bet he does based off his past, not cause i'm full of hate and just wanna dog on someone.

so if you're gonna yell at what i say at least *hear/comprehend* what i'm saying.

conversations go a lot smoother when that happens.

Sorry there ice -

I didn't intend for my post to single you out. Your's is just who I replied to because it was the last. =(

I guess I have participated in to many threads defending the kid when he was hurt and even playing hurt. People forget some things he did play through.

By no means am I trying to say that AP is not often injured. He is. It is his style of running that often times bring these injuries on. The ankle injury was just a fluke roll up and he re-agrivated it later trying to extend on a play. The shoulder last year was a ding dong splash move into the end-zone. Who knows.

Kid is a fighter. I know that much.

I guess I took offense to the thread title basically saying he's not tough.

I may be repeating what has already been said, but I'm not going to go back and read the whole thread.

If by toughness you mean his desire on the field and his willingness to endure contact and run through tackles, I have no question about that.

If you are talking about his ability to stay healthy, it's hard to ignore that he has missed significant parts of two seasons due to injury.

Still, those injuries seem to be flukes, so I wouldn't be overly concerned.

If they cut Peterson because he's so injury prone... I think we should pick him up.

Only if we could get him cheap .... like for a few million.

it's all good man - the hazard of life online - directed conversations are easy to mistake - appreciate the update and apologies in return for my outburst.

I see peterson as a Priest Holmes type guy. Great when he is healthy or only a little knicked, but always just another injury away from IR.
