He missed most of last year's end with a knee injury, correct?

He was our journeyman FA OL depth signing. Our first signing in FA period actually. Supposedly able to back up both Smiths on the left side with McGovern leaving.

Looking at the official depth chart, he is Tyron's replacement, which means he's going to start at some point.

Haven't really read or seen anything on him at TC, including guard position with Martin out. Any word on him?

Those at training camp, any observations?

He has been practicing a lot at left tackle. He has been hit or miss but he did have one nice clip where he stoned Parsons.

Yeah they’ve been sticking him at T a lot more than I thought since his only competent NFL film is as a LG and we don’t have clear depth there.

Seems strange to me but they generally have a good handle on the OL in the McCarthy era.

Which tells me some disturbing indication of our new OL coach Solaris,... why would we dare start a far lesser player in chuma-edoga at LT injury emergency
when we have the future and a better LT in Tyler Smith who many assumed would immediately switch out to LT " when" Tyron gets hurt again.

I would think we have a Plan B as emergency fill in at LG,.. when Tyler has to play LT.

Tyler Smith helped a lot.

I think until someone else steps up (or is brought in) he is the first OL off the bench when Tyron or someone else goes down. We can hope all we want for these young guys to step up but right now it’s based on nothing but hope some positive words on Twitter. IMO this team needs to add an OL before week 1 or we will regret it at some point.

Yes, he sucks. Backup for life type. He isnt the backup for Tyron, Tyler is. But he will probably play guard in place of Tyler with is when all the problems start.

hes a guard. Hes needed there. He sucks as a tackle. He's just a guy but better than Ball.

I gotta say I was a little surprised....he looks like more of tackle now...than a guard. Still....I don't think I would trust him over a long stretch.

-If you listen to the dedicated Cowboys reporter for the Athletic, Jon Machota...no backups on o-line have looked good.

-If you listen to Jeff Cavanaugh OLine depth is easily worst part of this roster

-If you merely look at the experience (e.g. lack thereof) and poor pedigree of all OL backups...it's downright scary.

Chuma was paid near the veteran minimum. He sure wasn't in demand! If he has to play much it won't be pretty.
