Let's face it,the Cowboys were in every game this year but one,and who knows if Cundiff or Cortez doesn't miss one of there manny feild goals we could very well have been 13-2 at this point.I haven't had the hopeless feeling that I had the past few years,or the sense of being dominated in years past.
We beat the Eagles twice this year, which makes living around here like old times(Pennsylvania).I was even able to get my step mom that Eagles Shirt that was buy one get one free at K-Mart for Christmas, lol.
Last year at this time our team was on life support for play-off possibilitys,This year we have a legitamate shot at makeing it.As for who we play, let me be honest and tell you that there isn't a team in the NFC that I fear we would have to match up against.I also know there isn't a team in the playoffs that wants to play us first round,Not to mention we played the best division in the AFC this year
As for all of the analysts who constantly bust on the boys(Lincoln Kennedy,Ferry Bradshaw, and of course Howie I wish I was a Cowboys Long),last 6 games were games of the week if I am not mistaken. If they were just to take quality wins for playoff positioning ,I am sure we would get in.
Also I just wanted to wish everybody a happy New Year and this team is getting better we just need a few more peices.

We've played had a chance to win in every single game (the exception being the last Skins game), and we easily have one of the toughest schedules in the league. With a schedule like this, you cannot be disappointed in a 10 win season, especially with the heart and wild games the Cowboys have given us this year.

We had no chance against the Commanders the second time around but yes........this season would have to be considered a success in the overall scheme of things.

Sorry, I can't call the season a success if the team misses the playoffs. This is Bill's third year and we have a quarterback and two starting wide receivers in their 30's. We're the Cowboys, not the Cardinals, nothing but the playoffs will do.

The season was sure a interesting one.....success?.....SB or bust for me....

We have alot of work to do....our OL is still pathetic.....we overpayed Rivera...Allen is done...put a fork in him.....the only solid player is Adams and he is comming off a injury.

Our WR's are old.....Crayton looks like a keeper but isn't a #1 WR.....Drew has 1 or 2 years left....and will be just average with the talent on the OL.

Our DL looks promising....but Glover and Ellis days here are numbered......we need a few more LB's and a FS.

This team is still a few good draft years away......

If you are a guitar player you know who Brad Gillis and Jeff Watson are. Great Live band that tours to this day.

And yet for all the holes we have, if we had a halfway decent kicker at any point this season we would probably be resting our starters this weekend getting ready for the playoffs.

We might be closer than you think.

And not necessaraily because this team is so good, but because the rest of the league has most of the same problems we do - too young in places, too old in other places, not enough depth anywhere.

Actually, I am a guitar player. I just don't think much of Nightranger but to each his own.

I disagree.

This season wasnt completely worthless but I have a hard time seeing it as a Success.

Parcells is one of the highest paid coaches in the NFL, making around 4.5 Million. If we miss the playoffs 2 out of 3 years, I am of the opinion that this is totally unacceptable.

You have franchises turning things around in that time period and alot of the losses we suffered this year, the 1st Skins Game and the 2nd Giants Game, for example were due to poor planning and game day decisions by the Coaching Staff.

If we miss the playoffs, I cannot see this season as a success....but hey, maybe there is something to be excited about finishing above .500 but missing the playoffs....:

Im looking at the entire Forrest (Big Bill's entire tenure) and not the Trees (individual seasons).

Missing the Playoffs 2 out of 3 years is totally unacceptable...

don't you find it amazing that 3 teams in the NFC East could finish with 10 or above wins? and that Philly isn't one of them?

without a doubt, the best division in football.

Even after the Giants got 9 home games.

I fully disagree, especially if we dont make the playoffs. While our young rookies have played well at times I dont think this season is a success. Do you think if you asked Bill or Drew that they would say Yes ? What about Jerry ? Do you think if they dont make the playoffs its a success. I think its a total failure if we dont make the playoffs. Expectations were not reached. We all thought this was a playoff team. People were talking super bowl early in the season. The collapse against the seahawks and giants really hurt us. And if we dont get in the season is a failure. Plain and simple.

AND if we dont start grooming a QB next year. We are in big trouble for the future.

I just find it hard to believe that there are some Cowboy fans out there still holding on to the Super Bowl or bust theme. I don't know how anyone can when this team hasn't made the Super Bowl and made just two one and done playoff appearances since 1996. Let's face it, this is not the Staubach or Aikman era Cowboys. Reality is the Cowboys are now just another team these days.

I think this team has made progress this year. They might or might not make the playoffs, but I think the biggest factor to me is the grit this team has shown coming back from not only tough, close losses but from the blowout in DC. Coming back and beating a tough Carolina team in Charlotte was impressive. This is progress compared to the crap we've seen in the folding the tents post Jimmy Johnson era Cowboys. This team is on the right track, I just hope Parcells is here to see this thing through to fruition.

We all thought this was a playoff team. People were talking super bowl early in the season.

Who thought that?

Just about everybody with an ounce of reason pegged us at about 9-7, maybe 10-6 if they were particularly optimistic. Anybody talking Superbowl with a team coming off a horrible 6-10 year, a bunch of rookies on defense and starting a rookie RT and UFA LT needs to share what they were smoking.

Yes, the 7-3 record got hopes up, but then the schedule got a whole lot harder. 3 games in 11 days ending with Denver, one of the best teams in the league, then KC and then Washington and Carolina on the road is no picnic, and we played well in 3 out of those 4 games.

Yes, not making the playoffs will be a disappointment, especially with a 10-6 record if we beat the Rams. But if you told me this would happen in August after the debacle of the season we had last year I would happily take it.

The teams moving in the right direction.

I totally forgot about this aspect of it. This is the most important position on the field and the one that has not been addressed the correct way in going on 16 years now.

Big Bill should have drafted a Quarterback in 2003 and this QB would have been in the System 3 years running now.

See the problem I have is that MOST of us agree that we are definately trying to win now.

Okay, let me ask you this? Why do you consider this season a Success when we dont make the playoffs and we could have just went with a Young Buck at QB, got him some experience because we werent going to make the Playoffs with an Experienced QB.

Again, I am asking the NFL Historians here....name me a coach that has been successful going into the Season with 3 different Starting QB each year of their tenure with an Organization?

Heck NO Big Bill...I am not letting you off the hook and saying you had a successful season...You MUST get this team into the playoffs or you get a failing grade for the season....not an F, but certainly not an A or B either :banghead: .

You either think 10 wins is a success or not. None of this "if we don't make the Playoffs it's not". Ok, you're disappointed, but to expect 11 wins is unrealistic, Drew only did that once in his career. To say "if Washington wins this weekend Dallas season was a failure" is missing the point. If all 16 games are meaningful the season was a good one.

This team is only on the right track on defense. The offense is a mess. Here are the players that will need to be replaced very very soon.

Keyshawn
Terry Glenn
Larry Allen
Marco Rivera
Torrin Tucker
Drew Bledsoe

So I dont know how on track this "TEAM" is. I know the defense is on track. But I dont think the offense is on track at all. In fact I think its in big trouble for the future. Im not holding on to the super bowl or bust. I just want the team to make the playoffs without needing help. And now they need help. I dont know how you can figure the season is a success. There is a difference between a success and making progress only on the defensive side of the ball.

I wouldn't say the season was a success, but it was definitely a fun one to watch. I enjoyed this season more than any other the past 5 years. Every game was an adventure w/so many highs and lows that it leaves you wanting more...

Now some of you SB or bust folks need to stop. Let's be real here. The boys haven't sniffed the Superbowl in 10 years. While we have a great history of contending for them and even winning them, we haven't been serious contenders for a long time.

In the current NFL, we were contenders this year, albeit on tissue paper. But a few tweaks here or there next year and I think we'll be real ones. JMO, of course.
