Kool and very interesting. Hot bed of football there??

No, no, no, this is no hotbed of football, .. which makes it all the more interesting that those three grew up that close to each other. (Saban older than Rich Rod, and RR older than Jimbo)

John McKay (USC, Tamp Bay) was from that same vicinity, only a lot earlier than those three.

I'm starting to think you and one of my sons are related in some psychic manner. He knows all the teams and lots of their personnel as well. I don't know how you do it.

I got lucky with Miller. On a visit to the in-laws my father-in-law took me. He goes to all the games and I've seen many pro players come from Dayton Oh because of that.

He is a West Virginia boy, .. he'll understand.

I wouldn't be totally shocked to see WVU win that game.
Bama will be the better team easily by the end of the year but early on WVU actually has the more experienced QB and of the passing game gets going the 3-4 can struggle without shutdown corners.

At the same time if some guy whose been buried on the depth chart excels at CB it wouldn't shock me either.
The position coach is pretty good... Nick Saban.

I suppose anything can happen, .. but I haven't seen much lately from WVU to think that it is a possibility.

Not real impressed with Holgorsen.

Maybe he is learning on the job, .. hey it's a process.

LOL

Holgorsen is reliant upon the QB. When he has that guy they'll be fine.
Without him they'll struggle.
Coming to the B12 has been tough because this league has the most advanced forms of the offense Holgorsen runs.

But SEC teams still struggle with wide open offenses. WVU has a lot of worry and will work a lot on preparing for that Bama game.
Bama doesn't have anything to practice against to prepare for WVU. It could turn into an upset.

You are right, .. he needs a solid QB.

I respect the Big 12, but we just don't have the talent offensively that we have had in the recent past. Nor the defense that we are used to.
I think we could compete, and even win the Big 12 if we had Pat White, Steve Slaton, Owen Schmitt and that defense.
Geno Smith, Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey were great offensively but our defense was non-existent with them.

Hope you are right about the upset, .. but with Bama losing their last two games, I think they are looking to make a statement.

Bama lost its last two games because it was mightily overrated.
They have all of 3 defenders on the 3 preseason ALL SEC defenses.
3 years ago they would have had 10 of the 11 starters on there, lol.
They'll probably win a title again in another year or two but this season should be rife with growing pains

Bama will have a great run game for sure and remain in that top 15 area but it can be hard to win based on the run unless your defense dominates. Passing eats up large chunks of clock and allows you to go really uptempo. Bama struggles versus tempo because they've recruited all these massive bodies. So WVU has the blueprint to cause them problems and try to pull off the upset. Executing that is always the challenge.

WVU needs to revamp recruiting with more focus on Texas. Nebraska, Missou and other former Big 12 teams recruited future NFL talent out of Texas.
Ohio State's new starting QB is a Texas kid.
WVU has to get in Texas while keeping some footprint in Florida.
Those two and some Pittsburgh area talent is enough.

Unless WVU gets the QB and WRs working better, Unless they put a defense on the field that can stop a sloth with a limp...we going to get clown stomped.

Great opening day game next Thursday eve with A&M visiting South Carolina.
Boise at Ole Miss that same day should be interesting too.

Can't wait for real football!

DGB denied playing for OU this year. Stoops kicking himself for suspending Mixon.

Huh? Not sure that makes any sense.
Stoops had little to nothing to do with suspending Mixon.
That was made above his head.

DBG was always going to have to sit out.
Rules are pretty clear.
OU makes it look like they are fighting for their guys with obscure appeals but they knew the deal all along.

Mixon is a true freshman so his sitting out isn't a big deal provided he does stick with OU.
The worry of course for Sooners would be he could transfer back home to Cali and sit out the already mandated one season.
But he's stated he is loyal to OU and Stoops.

OU needs to be very careful with how character concerns it is holding at once. That's always playing with fire.

OU will be as good as Knight allows them to be, they have no depth at the QB position behind him either, because Blake bell was back taking snaps in practice this week...and we know what he is as a quarterback.

If Sugar Bowl Knight is the real Trevor Knight they'll be potent, if Knight was a one game wonder they will lose 2 to 4 games.
