AP pre-season poll

Purdue will win the Rose Bowl this year. You heard it here first.

I forget if the rankings get updated every week this early in the season. Anyone know if they will be updated today?

How can Bama be #2 and WVU unranked? ROFL. 10 point win in essentially a home game.

Hardest part for me to understand is why does the SEC itself serially overrate Bama?

Yup

I know is still a bit slanted... but at least we have a four game playoff at the end....

The polls are meaningless this early, and truly at all now that their is a committee, only winning matters.

You're only saying that because your prediction of Baylor moving up one spot didn't come true. :D
I agree. We really see what teams are made of after they have played several games and also on the road.

Depends what poll, 9 in coaches and 10 in AP but neither mean jack, if Baylor played a top 25 tomorrow they'd likely struggle as their qb and starting four wideouts are expected to sit the next game, and some of them beyond.

The polls are not meaningless. Much easier for a team that starts in the top 5 to lose a game and still be relevant.

The Big 10 looks weak yet again. They will be sitting out the inaugural playoff format. If they went to an 8 team format I could still see them not getting a team into the playoffs.

Oregon played great today! They better jump Alabama in the polls after beating beating Michigan St #7 team in the country by 19 points.

Oregon is a clear number 2 to me right now, FSU gets benefit of the doubt that the OSU scare was a fluke, but one more scare and I'm calling them out as unworthy of numero uno.
