I wouldn't mind seeing it in IMAX, it would be a new experience.
Me too. I was too young when I first saw it, and have since seen so many versions of the film, including the "Heart of Darkness." I read once, Coppola had several different endings to the movie and he chose the most expensive one....the B52 strike. Hahaha. I'm interested to know what were the other choices.Amazing movie.
Honestly I didn't understand some of it when it came out.
The visuals were stunning.

Bizarre? Totally agree not the best movie of all time. It is one of the movies that most affected me personally. That and the first R rated movie I ever saw “The Exorcist”While I love the flick I could never say it's the greatest movie of all time.
The story was just too... Not sure what the right word or words are.
Always got my voteGreatest movie of all time.

Loved the first half of Full Metal Jacket. Closest movie in reality to Marine Corps boot camp. In 1st phase I was on fire watch duty at 2am when a recruit went out on the outside deck and was threatening to jump. I woke up the DI who came out with just his skivies on and his DI cover and went up to the recruit and yelled “jump you chicken *** scum bag, jump!!” He didn’t and of course was gone the next day. That's how I envisioned the Mekong Delta being like.........however, from my personal experience I thought Platoon and Full Metal Jacket were closer in reality......There were several parts in both movies that were a little too Hollywood though.

I guess there's no deescalation in the Marines.... hahahaLoved the first half of Full Metal Jacket. Closest movie in reality to Marine Corps boot camp. No, just the opposite.I guess there's no deescalation in the Marines.... hahaha
You can add Hamburger Hill to those two as well for Vietnam and The Thin Red Line did the same thing for WWII regarding the battle for ground and the price to pay for every inch of it.That's how I envisioned the Mekong Delta being like.........however, from my personal experience I thought Platoon and Full Metal Jacket were closer in reality......There were several parts in both movies that were a little too Hollywood though.
Greatest movie of all time.
You look at the top rated movies on IMDB and you have:
For the most part the stories are simple and easily understood.
- The Shawshank Redemption (1994) R | 142 min | Drama. ...
- The Godfather (1972) R | 175 min | Crime, Drama. ...
- The Dark Knight (2008) PG-13 | 152 min | Action, Crime, Drama. ...
- The Godfather: Part II (1974) ...
- The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) ...
- Pulp Fiction (1994) ...
- Schindler's List (1993) ...
- 12 Angry Men (1957)
"Pulp Fiction" is sorta bizarre too, but not to the point of "Apocalypse".
No way those movies are better than The Wizard of Oz. The Godfather 1&2, I can see, but not the others.
