Apollo Ohno to retire

He's the only American athlete at these Olympics I hate. Vonn is an annoying diva but she's cute so she gets a pass.

Apolo Anton Hohmo is just annoying.

Is he a Walmart shopper?

With the money he makes, I sure as hell hope not.

I never realized how small he was until the relay medal presentation. Olivier Jean from Canada made Ohno look like a pygmie.

I did chuckle though at Hohmo yapping that he was DQed by a Canadian judge so that two Canadians could make the podium. He has benefited from so many DQs, falls etc in his career, he is the last one who should ever yap.

He has taken some heat for those remarks.

It looked pretty obvious the Canadian fell on his own.

Ohno's hand was on his *** pushing him. I was watching Hamelin and Korean when Mrs CCF yelled, Ohno pushed Tremblay.

Refs agreed!

People talk about poor refereeing in football, but that DQ call (and non-call on the Canadian) was hilariously bad. That one can't even be argued.

LOL. Check out the Canadian's hand, just before the guy in the front wipes out. The Canadian literally pushes the guy. I don't follow speed skating closely, but methinks that's not legal.

So was the Canadian and everyone else.

Convenient is all I have to say.

Pushing him... haha.

Ohno's hand went upward off Tremblay's hip. If he was pushing him, he would have gone down instantly.

Refs have access to replay so I'm sure anyone can go back and review how and why the call was made as it is not an instantaneous decision. There are lots of rules on how passes can be made, interference, etc. and I don't claim to be an expert on the subtleties.

They can always appeal, I would presume. Such appeals have been won in the Olympics in the past with people getting their proper medal (in this case it would be an extra silver) awarded at a later date.

There was also a controversial DQ of the Koreans in the women's relay - I think the US may have picked up a bronze in the process (Canada went from bronze to silver and China took the gold).

wait i thought anything goes in the finals...at least that is what the announcers said in the races last week.

btw, the South Koreans have been super physical throughout the speed skating events and the officials have said nothing. I swear, I thought I was watching Roller Derby when watching the Koreans. yet, they disqualify 2 Americans for minimal contact. Oh and the Canadiens benefit both times the Americans get DQed.....quite fishy. But that is how the Canadiens role....those maple leaf bastages.

Koreans did get dq'd once with China the main beneficiaries in the women's relay.

Whether you believe it or not (since most of you don't probably follow short-track much as it is not on your radar), the Americans and Koreans have a big-time rivalry that has been going on a long time with lots of physicality and sniping going back and forth. The Canadians, Chinese and most of the Europeans are not involved as much for the most part.

Ohno, in particular, has been especially critical of the Koreans and that goes back a long time.

US benefited from Korean DQ in relay, they got medal.

The Koreans take this very seriously, they made death threats against the ref.

i saw it in real time and it looked like he just put his hand on him kinda to let him know he was there no push but they kept showing slow mo and it was impossible to tell if there was a push even if it was slight. i think the refs were watching the slow mo too much to tell what the call should be i hope they appeal

Eh, all will be forgotten once we wipe the ice with the Canuck's rears at 2 pm CDT tomorrow. Brodeur wants it in the 5-hole.

Luongo will be starting - should be a good game.
