Apparently we had an A+ draft

Comparing all of the Cowboys draft picks against each other...

Worst PFF rating:

5th round pick which Cowboys traded up to get :

LB Shemar James: 59.6 PFF rating

SMH...

2nd Worst PFF rating:

1st round pick which the Cowboys selected very early with their 12th overall pick:

3rd Worst PFF rating:

7th round draft pick:

DT Jay Toia: 69.0

Everyone else had a PFF rating of 72 or higher.

An A+ overall grade?
Your 1st mistake, following PFF.
Your 2nd mistake, you don't like anything about this team.

But are the Cowboys a playoff team now? Same front office, new head coach. The jury is out. I can concede the draft was good, but I believe it will take multiple good drafts to overcome the lousy decisions from the front office in 2024.
They were a playoff team 3 years in a row. They were considered a playoff team, and possible NFCE winners going into 2024 season.
Injuries derailed that.
I can see why some will not have them as a playoff team this season. Because so many injury issues of some of the starters.
However, some of them will be back as well. So I can see why they will be considered a playoff contender this year.

Not a contender to win the NFCE, but to sneak in as a WC team.

I'm not interested in the perception others have for the team, only actual achievement by the Cowboys. They failed in the playoffs three years in a row and then let too much talent get away without appropriately replacing it. Then came the back breaker... injuries that they couldn't overcome.

Some will never be happy no matter what we do. It's the Jerry effect and when you factor in the cherry on top which was the all in crap last year, a large chunk of our fans won't ever give a passing grade to anything we do. I get it, I really do. For me, I don't operate like that. I live in the now. We had a good weekend.

Yeah, same. I'm disgusted also, but I have to take different facets in a vacuum, otherwise I'd be miserable following these guys. The new staff and the draft are reasons for optimism. Hopefully lol

Dont sleep on PFF now....Its far from a perfect science and they certainly have some misses, but their grading model is fairly consistent and they review every play. That alone carries some value.

Their grading model is flawed. It is only as good as the programming.
Someone input bias info against Dallas.

What info is biased against Dallas? I certainly have noticed some scheme and play style issues that dock certain guys unfairly, but still they are probably 80% or so accurate which is incredible for the volume they do. Excellent starting point when doing a player evaluation IMO.

I was joking about it. I don’t really care about rankings.

Toia — At 6-foot-3 and 325 pounds, Toia is very difficult to move, as evidenced by his 70.0 run-defense grade this past season. He still has work to do as a pass rusher, but his 22 total pressures in 2024 nearly tripled his combined total from the previous three years.
Most important draft pick along with the edge rusher. You won't to know why you haven't broken through in the playoffs? It starts upfront on the defensive line--you've been substandard. Hope and pray those two guys along with Kneeland and Williams can be better and bring better results than the highly overrated DeMarcus Lawrence

I think we may come up short because Washington may have surpassed us even if we are healthy. Not saying we wouldn't have been in contention with Washington if we'd have been healthy, but the Commanders spent this offseason trying to build on their success and catch the Eagles.

I mean, we don't know how they will turn out, but Washington made a couple of big trades for Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil. Meanwhile, we traded for first-round busts Kaiir Elam and Kenneth Murray.

Getting back to 12-5 will be difficult simply because our division is better than it was.
