I have to laugh at Todd Archer's season predictions. He picks Dallas to lose to every good team they face.

New England loss
Seattle loss
at Green Bay loss (Losing Nelson won't make any difference)

I guess he hasn't paid attention to the Boys going 8-1 on the road in their division the last few years.

what does the past few years have to do with this year???

He's a pessimist like most Cowboys "fans". And just think...everybody is 0-0. Imagine that:rolleyes:

The thing is most sports writers/radio personalities in the DFW are not Cowboys fans. I think that area is somewhat unique in that aspect.

There has been a pattern with Dallas-area sports writers over the last few years. They are pro-Cowboys, until they start looking for their next job either out of desire or concern over being let go. When that happens, their articles, opinions, predictions, etc. gain a more negative slant, most likely in order to show other sports media, especially ESPN (for ESPN-Dallas), that they are not homers. Ed Werder and JJT did this and it helped them land jobs with ESPN. I would simply take this as a sign of Archer planning to change jobs in the near future.

Which also can be said about all 32 teams in the league. The team will win 11-12 games.

Exactly. I think we agree on the W/L side...I tend to spread my expectations from 10-13 wins, so your estimate of 11-12 is probably where I lean if pressed on the issue.

If you talk about beating good teams to people they immediately shoot you down for being a homer and to stop sipping the kool aid.

Then you have to remind them we did go and beat Seattle in their house when everyone thought we didn't have a chance

Okay I'm bragging, but I called that upset last year. The "Any Given Sunday" principle. :)

Not really. At larger newspapers, you tend to have more transient reporters, i.e., those who grew up in a different place but come to the big city because of their careers.

Michael Wilbon is a Bears fan, if I'm not mistaken. He worked at The Washington Post for years covering the Commanders. JJT is formerly from Ohio. I can't recall if he's a Browns or Bengals fan. But he moved to Dallas (before he left for ESPN) and covered the Cowboys for a period of time.

I think Cowboys fans are more sensitive to the "allegiance" of reporters because they tend to read bias in stories they don't like.

But almost every fan base makes the same claim.

Only four days and we'll know a lot more about the Cowboys than these silly polls tell us. If we run the ball well against the Giants and win the game, there won't be room for us on the bandwagon as all of the naysayers try to jump on at the same time.

I don't know, he did predict 10 wins, he must have some faith in them. I met Todd Archer in a bar in Chicago when the Cowboys won there in 2007, real nice guy.

Ssshhh! You're interrupting the "He's a bum. He's a no-nothing, he's a hack" narrative. ;)

Haven't you guys heard? On paper, we are -

Better on DL
Better on OL
Better at LB
Better at WR(?)
Better in the Secondary (?)
QB coming off career year
3 1st round picks jazz

But we lost a RB, so that offsets any improvements we made, no matter how big of improvements they are.

Thats right great point.

Now we look at the Eagles. Degraded almost every part of their team but since they got Murray, Matthews and Bradford they can't be stopped

OMG when I constantly hear the Cowboys took a step back because of Murray leaving I think of what you wrote.

He must be a nice guy. I recall one of Tony Romo's girlfriends staying at his house when she was in town.

I dont know if this is the case with Archer. He seems to take a more pragmatic approach to things. If im reading Archers predictions in never expecting 13-3 or 6-10

If the run game is close to last year, then this team will be even better. I have no doubts the pass rush will be much improved. My only concern is getting through the first 4 weeks while two of our best defenders serve their suspension.
