Archer: LB search continues

We’re going to get Bobby Okereke and like it.

There really isn’t a ton left at LB. Devin Lloyd and Devin Bush are probably the best 2 left I would say. I like Leo Chenel having some untapped potential, but he’s unproven as a full time starter.
And then there’s the vets like Dre Greenlaw (big injury risk), Okereke, Germain Pratt, and Kaden Ellis.
May have to get a place-holder and make LB a first-round priority if we lose out on Lloyd and Chenal. Elliss is interesting, but the knock on him seems to be coverage, while he seems to be best when used as a blitzer.

What I'd do is forget about linebacker in free agency and go get Trey Hendrickson. Then, we don't have to worry about DE/OLB and can find our LB in the draft.

I like the Gary signing because he's at least a player who has performed well even if he's not coming off his best season. Adding Hendrickson, even though he's 30/31 and coming off surgery, would give us some line combinations that could be scary to offenses.

That would be my version of busting the budget or all in based on who is out there and what we've done so far. I know it won't be the Joneses.

So you’d pay $40M/ year for him?

I read that Okereke signed a huge deal with the Titans already.

Edit: I guess that was from a parody account.

Sheesh! I hate that crap. I don't know why fans post that stuff.

I don't know why x doesn't shut that crap down. Just putting parody on the bio shouldn't give you a free pass to do fake news.

I hope for Leo Chenal to become our next LB acquisition.

That should top off our FA deals quite nicely . . .

How's about it, Jerry?! Get 'er done!

FA is 9 hours old, so no.

And trading up for anyone is a really bad idea.
Big Dog, I want Styles in Dallas…..bad. The available linebackers are very thin now. The draft is later and we will see how the position plays out until then.

If no knew players are added, then I would do whatever it takes on draft night. He is going to be a stud and using #20 with #12 is worth it. I highly doubt Bain and Downs make it to their current picks.

Chenille would be nice. Queen for a 3rd day pick would be okay. Chaisson would be good also. Still want Woolen and maybe Newsome.

Mistake not to win one of the few good LBs in FA. Too little depth on the current squad.

I don't know what his APY will end up being, but I'd give him a four-year or five-year deal, paying him under $20 million the first couple of years and then get out of the deal. It wouldn't be cheap, and the piper will come calling, but some of our fans are more stingy than Jerry. I say go for it.

I’m sure his agent won’t see that coming

What do you mean? That's typical for deals. The APY is rarely the same as the cap hit the first couple of years. Guaranteed money would mean he's going to get his, but all that matters to us is how much the hit to the cap is. Yes, on the back end, how much dead money will hit could be important but if he helps us win a Super Bowl, then that doesn't really matter. This is what Super Bowl winners have done. They go for it, knowing that they will probably have to take a brief step back when the dead money drops.

Two first rounders for… a Mike LB?
