If restructuring is always on the table, why is noone mentioning it when it comes to Coop?

If we really wanted to keep Coop, we would push his cap dollars out to future years.

Jerry had decided to cut Amari mid season. Everything since then has been trying to justify it.

Hmmm .... I thought the players got it because that was the incentive to do restructures. Of course, maybe that's just with restructures that are not part of the deal when it is signed. It seems like teams automatically build them in now.

I think he is be wrong it’s not a bookkeeper entry it’s called pro rated bonus that usually turns into dead money

Essentially, restructuring a deal involves the conversion of a portion of a player's salary into the form of a signing bonus. The cap hit from that bonus can be amortized over the length of the contract, which in turn lowers this year's cap number.

Players are okay with it because it guarantees their salary for the year.

You could restructure any number of players
The reason cooper is not mentioned is not about whether you can but do you want to
Daks contract was structured to make it very easy to clear a large chunk of money so his is one of the easiest

Of course, that will serve only to kick the cap can down the road. This year, he has a cap number of $34.45 million. Next year, it’s $45.45 million. In 2024, the last year of the deal, it’s $48.45 million.

A restructuring would drive up the numbers in 2023 and 2024, and it would add to the dead money due to hit the books in 2025, of $14.45 million.
