I think there's a reasonable chance we draft one.Me personally I actually want to move on from Zeke I would like to have a younger back
Got a question
How does a 1.035 mil contract that’s one year count 895,000 against cap
Thank you sirI believe it is because of this:
Veteran salary benefit: Formerly known as the minimum salary benefit, the veteran salary benefit allow teams to offer a "Qualifying Contract" to any player with at least four credited seasons at a reduced salary cap hit. Under this provision, a qualifying contract is a one-year deal worth the minimum base salary applicable to a player with his number of credited seasons, plus $137,500 in additional compensation (i.e., signing bonus, roster bonus, incentive, etc. -- amount begins to increase in 2022). These contracts are charged against the salary cap at the rate of a player with two credited seasons that league year.
Drafting a RB at some point is a logical move just not sure who in this draft. Haven’t really looked at them but a good point about next yearI think there's a reasonable chance we draft one.
Although barring injury they won't play much given how we determine who starts (lahltay, salary).
But I don't want to be in a spot a year from now having to hand Pollard a second deal because we "have no one else."
So....draft one THIS year Dallas. Thanks.
Yeah I know.....it's not a "need."
When are people (ownership included) gonna understand the draft isnt about filling immediate needs? Be ahead of something for a change.
I said this about DE a year ago.
I dont know who either....but I don't want to be hearing about having to work something out with Elliott or signing Pollard a year from now because we don't want to go into the draft with no one.Drafting a RB at some point is a logical move just not sure who in this draft. If you draft one and he can contribute on ST then he’d be active for games and maybe get a few reps but otherwise he’s not likely to be active
Churning the rosterI like these deals.
My only knock is, come next season, you're in the same boat with about 15-20 free agents.
Yep the compensation will be uglyNot thrilled about that… He left NO in cap hell and basically has an identical record to McCarthy. In other words— I think he is overrated— although IMO he would be at least a small upgrade.
However— the biggest issue would be compensation for NO. They have his rights and will likely be looking for a decent haul of picks from the team looking to acquire Payton.
My biggest complaint is that they did not take the money that they offered Randy and sign another decent DEAll that plus if a guy has a good year and gets a stronger offer elsewhere next year you can get draft pick comp off a guy that was salary cap neutral.
It super sucks for the first couple weeks in free agency and it is painful to have to play the 1 team going all in like the Rams are in the playoffs but outside those scenarios it is logically a good plan.
Keep building through draft and retain only key guys when they hit free agency.
It still feels like they should go all in at least once right???
All that said if they can't even win a single playoff game its tough to argue they should right now.
Welcome to the suck.
I would resign Pollard, but only for a reasonable amount.I dont know who either....but I don't want to be hearing about having to work something out with Elliott or signing Pollard a year from now because we don't want to go into the draft with no one.
I want them both gone after this year. No second contracts to RBs. Period.
I doubt I get my way considering how these two run the team, but I guess I can hope.
That starts with a RB in rounds 3-5 this year.
There are a lot of just agro complaints but this one is totally fair.My biggest complaint is that they did not take the money that they offered Randy and sign another decent DE
Thanks, I know a lot of posters are upset, but there are some legit complaints like the one I raised. There are a lot of just agro complaints but this one is totally fair.
That money could certainly have been used to bolster the DL.
I think Dorance is a better "value" than Randy and not mad at that swap but then you go get a more talented DT/DE to add to the mix than Dante Fowler imo.
OR you just pivot to a proven starting LB so you can make Micah the starting RDE.
Right now they did literally none of those things so deserve heat until they prove on Sundays they have a pass rush and run stop plan. .
Yep...if we are gonna make a mockery of a running game...why pay that much. We'll take a rookie, beat the hell out of HIM for way cheaper. And possibly lose Dak to I.R.Me personally I actually want to move on from Zeke I would like to have a younger back
