Are all wins equal to you?

So, do you feel that a win is a win and nothing else matters? Let me give an example.
Whether Dallas beats Minnesota tomorrow 38-17 or 23-21, are you equally happy?

I know the old saying is there are no bad wins in the NFL and you dont give any back because of lack of style points.

Myself, I will be disappointed if they dont do to the Vikes what they did to the Rams. This game should be over before the 4th Qtr starts. It would be different if the team was 6-2 and just happened to have a struggle on that day with a bad team. But Dallas really needs to come out and put a hurting on the Vikings. And I will add this, if this is a one score game midway 4th Qtr and the vaunted offense has a 3 and out, there will be boos.

So, hypothetically speaking of course, lets say Dallas wins this one 20-17. Which of these 2 choices best describes you:

A) Who cares that it was close? We won. We're 5-4 and in first place. Just put this game in the "W" column baby! And all is good.

B) Well, the win beats losing but this was a poor performance. Minnesota is a very bad football team and to allow them to hang around the entire game shows we have issues. This was a win, but nothing to be excited about.

* Me, I am in the "B" category.

Mostly B, with a little A sprinkled in. Against NO? A all the way.

It's true a win is a win, but how we get the win DOES matter IMO. How we get that win is very important, especially against one of the weakest opponents left on our schedule. If we leave it at a close game due to a piss poor outing, then my opinion of this team will probably actually change.

So far we've beaten teams we should pretty convincingly, and the tougher games we've fought hard all the way down to the whistle. I personally think this team is a 5-3 or 6-2 team, regardless of the 4-4 record. It's true that we've yet to close games out, but we've played up to the competition in every game so far. So if this team is good as I actually think they are, then we should come out and beat them pretty easily. This game should be a repeat of the Rams game, but only time will tell.

... And I picked B, obviously. :D

The game of Football has so many randoms anymore.

Parity has truly made "Any given Sunday" true weight.

A win is a win anymore.

In my opinion.

I like to be entertained, like last week I was entertained. It was a heart breaking loss but it was entertainment.
Just putting a "W" on the board is good but there are games that stay with you a long time because there was a
great contest with back and forth, blood and guts. We've had wins where i just thought ugh we won thats good.
I like to smell the flowers along the way.

Well, when I see Carolina go to Minnesota and beat the Vikings 35-10, I would hope Dallas can do similar- especially considering its at home.

In the NFL, I think it is generally true that any win is better than any loss. To me that is almost an absolute truth.

Oh I agree with you ...there are games I'm just glad its a win. Doesnt matter how, why. But there are other games that I just feel that they need to be convincing wins...and tomorrow is one of them. Not just for fans, for the team's mental state too. Go out there and show 'em who is boss and have this a 3 score game in the 4th Q.

I get where you're coming from- I just see things a little different.

No biggie.

Neither of us are really wrong...

A win is a win. They all count the same. However, if you're constantly playing in games decided by a single drive late in the 4th, you're usually going to win as many as you lose. Jerry Jones has admitted that much.

No. I put more emphasis upon division wins.

I agree..............the division games really are like a game and a half due to the tiebreaker implications and the fact that if you sweep its like having 3 wins against that team.

However, to answer the OP question I do think that some wins can be more "Signature wins". Clearly going on the road and beating the Saints is a more impressive win than beating the 1-6 Vikes at home.

I'll take a win any way we can get it. Besides, blow out the vikes and most will say "yea but it just the vikes . Show me with a good team"

Win or lose - this team has a multitude of issues that need to be addressed - both coaching/schemes and players.

Having said that - I am going to enjoy the game as I always do.

Will take the W no questions asked like a previous poster pointed to, the parity in the league can't hold your expectations too hard. Like every fan though, we have expectations on how we "should" perform, esp against a weak opp like Minn. I use to refer to these games as "stat" games when the trips needed numbers...but now not so much, take the W and just hope for the inflated numbers to our O and D.
