Division wins are most important, then wins over weak teams like the Vikings. Why weak teams, because the tough teams you are going lose more games and have to take advantage of weak teams and get all the easy wins.

I always look at how we play during a win. Do we maximize our strengths? Sure up weaknesses? Play with Passion? Play Smart? To a lesser extent I feel the same way about losses.
to a very lesser extent.

And yes, division games hold more weight, as well as conference games.

A win is a win but beating bottom feeders doesn't impress me anymore. I want to see this team actually beat a good team.

The Cowboys are a mediocre team with most of their games coming down to the 4th quarter. Considering the team they have and the fact they've missed the playoffs the last 2 seasons by only one game any win even a one point win is fine with me. Your margin of victory means little it's winning that's important. Whether you win by 50 points or one point it goes down as a win and your W/L record is what determines your fate. Winning tight games can build character which is something the Cowboys lack. Every tight game the Cowboys have been in this season they've lost except for the 5 point opening day win over the Giants in which the Cowboys held a 17 point lead earlier in the game. The Cowboys have held the lead in every game they've played this season but found ways to lose 4 of those games 3 of which they held a 2 score lead.

Winning comfortably doesn't do the Cowboys any good nor does it do the FAN base any good because FANS tend read too much into easy wins regardless of the opponent. After blowing out the Rams in week 3 the Cowboys followed that win up with a loss to San Diego. After a couple of easy back to back wins over the Commanders and Eagles the Cowboys followed those games up by blowing a 2 score lead to Detroit last week giving up a franchise record 623 yards including 329 yards to a WR. It doesn't take much for the Cowboys or their FANS to become complacent. All it takes is one blowout win for FANS to start talking SB.

The Cowboys have to learn to win close games because most of their games are going to come down to the 4th quarter due to their lack of running game and a defense which has been one of the worst in league history after 8 games. It's resulted in three blown 2 score leads this season. If you're going to be a championship caliber team you have to be able to win 1 and 2 point games because of the parity in the NFL. With all the rule changes it's hard to keep teams down especially those who have premier QB's. At some point your defense has to step up and make a damn stop in the final seconds to close out a game.

lets re-visit this. I of course am glad for a win, but what a disaster. And do me a favor....if you ever feel compelled to say that Denver, KC and Detroit games "could've been wins".....make sure you take this game and put it in the "could've been a loss.".

A win is win because it doesn't effect the next week. I don't really believe in momentum from week to week in Football. Sure, winning breeds confidence but it's not how they win.. Still have to game plan the Saints and not look at them lightly cause they lost to the Jets today.

Of course it's not. I refuse to accept or support mediocrity. This team played on a 1-6 level today. Don't want think about the Saints right now.

Its hard to win in the NFL but having said that its a game we should have won and I had down as a win, so we did that so on to the Saints...

So you'd rather they lose? What if the team went say 12- 4 but 8 of those wins were ugly, would you say the team is bad? No, you wouldn't.

I'd rather play better than the way we played today. "A win is a win" against a 1-6 team that didn't play all that great is loser mentality.

No, all wins are not equal.

Division wins are always more important in the regular season than wins over AFC teams.

And the psychological factor is important, too. Beating a good team 45-10 is better than beating a lousy team 14-13.

I think you're expecting too much out of a flawed team to begin with. The Cowboys are not like some impressive team. Sure, the Vikings suck but the Cowboys offense has ZERO running game so I'll take the win and hope we execute better for next week than watch us play great, and lose.

A win is a win........however, Conference wins are greater than non-conference wins, and division wins trump all other wins............still, when we are talking about pretty/ugly or close/route, all wins are equal. A beautiful blowout victory carries the same wieght as a 1 pt, mistake-filled, lack of flow victory.
