Are college players getting worse...

I think many of these guys are getting bad advice from agents looking to make a buck. Charles does not come from a poor family living in the slums. Personally I think the guy would have benefited greatly by returning to school and with less RB in next year’s class the chances of going high in the draft are great.

Right now I see many underclassmen who are just being duped and end up being day 2 picks because frankly they were not ready and the extra year of school could very well make a big difference. As I said though these are the choices they make and will have to live with.

I agree with you. There is a lot of bad advice out there. Another thing to consider is that Texas may not be that great a team next year. It may have been difficult for Charles to show off his talent in college to really change his draft status. I don't really see Charles as making a bad choice. Now Jermichael Finley's decision really had me scratching my head. He still seems very raw at tight end.

It could be that the media covers every little detail now...then again they could be worse too.

If anyone is seriously expecting the USA's overall attitude to be turned around by the example of a pro sports franchise, no matter how high-profile, this country's in big trouble.

Reading the thread up to your post 44 minutes ago there was not a mention of anyone expecting a pro sports franchise to turn the USA's overall attitude around.

It's about making an investment into a player with or without character flaws. Good character= good investment, bad character= not so much.

Perhaps you mistakingly posted in the wrong thread.

Texas should have a good team this season. They still have McCoy, the OL will be 1 more year together and more experienced.

Texas recruiting has been very good so they still have ample talent coming back.

Given the way Charles finished last season I think he would have been an early season candidate for the Heisman. I’m not saying he would win it but given his play I think he would have had a shot.

After the OU game Charles seemed to do better about not fumbling so you head into this coming season show the teams this is not an issue I think all of these would favor Charles going much higher had he stayed in school.

I also think 1st rd money compared to 3rd rd money is a pretty big chunk of change.
