Are Cowboys Legit Contenders?

No one could beat the Colts in 2006 but we did it. Of course we are legitimate contenders.

Thats the point. Do you think they can? Saints look very well coached and like a complete team. MIN is lucky to play in the North and hasn't really beat any real good team. I see them as 1 and done.

I think Dallas matches up pretty good against the Vikings. They will have to do some serious game-planning against the Saints, but I wouldn't say they can't beat them.

i'm with Thumper.. i don't know why, but nobody is talking about us as contenders at all.. i can't ever remember an 8-3 type team getting so little respect.. but i think it's a good thing.. let the Saints, Colts and Vikings get all the acclaim.. do i think those teams are slightly better than we are? sure.. but i don't think there's this huge dropoff between them and us.. i don't think any of those 3 are unbeatable.. the Colts and the Vikings are really close to having a few losses each.. the Saints have had a pretty easy schedule.. and i feel like we truly could've (and should've) won the three games we lost.. of course, there's a lot to be said for them actually pulling out those games while we've lost three.. but still.. i think talent-wise, we are in the top 5 in the NFL..

I believe we could compete with Minnesota.

I am not certain about New Orleans. They looked pretty impressive last night.

One thing in our favor, like sleeper teams in the past, the panthers, seattle, arizona that went to the super bowl

Everyone is saying either Vikings or Saints from NFC

That way we can fly under the radar, and slip up on teams and get into the playoffs possibly, then anything is possible.

Look at the recent past of the nfl playoffs. IN early december everything appears one way and by the middle of the january its completely different. That could mean really good things for us or really bad things.

Just think back to a year ago this week. The cardinals were coming off a major thrashing at Philly. They looked pathetic. They gave up 56 to the jets, nearly another 50 to the pats and then were manhandled by the eagles giving up another 40 plus. They ended up a 9-7 team no one thought would beat anyone.

They came within a play or two of winning the stinking superbowl. I am not even sure they deserved to be in the playoffs honestly and they almost won the whole thing.

Giants in 07, steelers in 05, panthers in 03...etc..etc.....

Expect everything, believe nothing.

I was going to say the same thing, only worse. I'll just add that I like the way our chances seem to be shaping up. Everything's right there for us to make a run. We've been under the radar with a defense that's become just shy of dominant. Our special teams are good with the exception of the kick return game, and our offense is adequate but still underperforming with the talent to also be a dominating unit. And our chemistry is good. We only need the confidence of beating some good teams, if we're able to do it.

I think the Cowboys can beat anyone. Though not "anyone" when their offense is sputtering.

Defense wins championships, but you still have to be able to score points. You can't score you can't win.

But I think we would have to catch the Saints on a off day if we are to have a chance. If the Saints play like they did last night, nobody can beat them, IMO. They are scary good

We would have a better chance against the Vikings though.

as far as the saints go, they look great.

But how do we know if that saints team just didnt have everythign align perfectly for them last night. They looked very similar to the cowboys beating the packers in 07. everyone was picking the packers and the cowboys put everything they had into it and they destroyed the packers.

Only time will tell.

When the Cowboys have the right mindset. They can play with anybody in the league. Everybody's gonna have to be on there A game to beat NO. Especially the coaches
