Are Cowboys legit Super Bowl contenders?

Thats my fear, this defense has really been playing out of their minds and way above their pay grade. Just a bunch of blue collar guys that are kicking *** and taking names. Can they keep it up vs a Rogers? Really hate the thought of seeing us get exposed come playoff time as it will be the same old crap.

They shut Andrew Luck and Drew Brees down this season. Hell beat Luck so bad they took him out the game

As Doyle Brunson would say...."a chip and a chair".

All 12 teams have a shot, well 10 anyways excluding ATL/Car and Arizona. All it takes is for things to go right, get the lucky bounces and catch fire at the right time. I like our chances if they keep that inner fire and that chip on their shoulder.

One thing concerns me......SEA will not overlook us, they know we are capable of beating them; therefore, gaining extra attention. IMO, the path to the SB will run through the NorthWest and they are looking formidable atm. Thankfully, they don't have a high-powered offense to go along with the defense.

I got a feeling Rams beat Seattle this Sunday for some reason and this Seattle talk will subside

Their QB concerns me. Aside from that, the Rams are a scary, up and coming team. It would be a pleasant turn of events if it happened, but I'm not holding out too much hope.

Right. And what's funny we didn't really play that well in that game. A blocked punt, and down 10-0, with lots of mistakes. In reality we should have blown them out.

Can't wait for the rematch! ;)

One of the most impressive things we have seen from this team this season is the ability to overcome adversity. There were two moments in that game where we could have easily imploded (the 10-0 start, and the punt return / botch snap).

I don't know about blowing them out, but we were certainly the better team that day.

Im not hoping, just got a feeling. Will be a game i keep an eye on

I think that the cowboys can beat seattle again. my problem is that the seahawks are just playing great team defense right now. that crowd is going to be louder then it was in the regular season. also they won last year so they will not be surprised by how big of a playoff game it will be. this will be the first time for over half of the team.

This young Cowboys team has to get there first. Then I will begin to remember 1992, Candlestick Park. We had no business winning that game, but we did!

Any team that makes it to the Playoffs is a "Legit" contender, because anyone can Win or Lose once they get there, regardless of how well they played to get there.

I think the vote is pretty much right on at 50/50. It's way easier to believe in the offense than the defense. I'm sure some of the no votes are haters and Romo doubters, but aside from that, I think the pool of fans that buy into the Cowboys defense is limited to portion of the Cowboys fan base. I don't think anyone sees them going out there and winning the Cowboys a playoff game.

Our defense has something to prove, and it has been showing of late. These guys on D have a major chip on their shoulder. Don't count them out!

And you can bet that Rod Marinelli is using this to his advantage every chance he gets!!!!

Okay, instead of doing what I feel I should do. I'm going to say I'm not sure, but am leaning towards no. Defense wins championships, but the Cowboys second rate defense has been playing a bit better than second rate lately. As Jeter once said, it doesn't matter which team is better, it matters who is hot when the playoffs start. The Cowboy's defense is playing quite well and that slightly skews my view. Though, I say if the Cowboys have to play Seattle right now. I lean towards Seattle even though I think our offense is better. Yeah, cause defense wins championships and I take Seattle's defense over ours.

DIE DIE DIE!!!

Yes, but keep in mind that being a contender puts us at maybe a 10% shot at winning it all. The gauntlet we have in front of us will be very difficult from an odds perspective.

I would say yes. Surprisingly.

I'd give the Seahawks, Patriots, Packers and Broncos better odds, but after that I think the Cowboys could be the next in line.

Vs. Lions, @ Packers, @ Seahawks is a pretty brutal path to the Super Bowl but I can't say it's impossible. I believe so much in the QB and the offensive line.

If they can avoid the Packers the sky is the limit. That's the one team in the NFC I don't think we have a prayer of beating. I've been wrong before and I'd like to be wrong again though.

I look at them like this: as long as the offense is rolling, they are just good enough. Now if the offense is in trouble vs. Detroit, I'll be scared. I just don't see the defense going out there and bailing out the offense. I mean, I can see them making a few plays, but dominating on the way to a victory on a day the offense can't do anything? Perhaps if Detroit comes in really dinged-up. I love the effort, but the overall talent is lacking.

Yes, and I hope the rest of the NFL keeps the same attitude as the majority of the posters here. "Their defense is crap, we've got this." Good luck. This "Team" is built to win games. We're gelling right now at the right time.
