I thought finally ridding ourselves of the Puppet coaching era was going to be the difference many had continued to call out for not having more success in recent years.

Many had argued this team was loaded with talent under achieving and our coaching was holding this team back. That we had too much talent to not be making a deeper push in the playoffs.

This team appears to have many more problems than just coaching. We shall see if this more proven coaching staff has the ability of overcoming and steering the ship over the hump while dealing with a meddling ownership who won’t be comfortable with a team spiraling down and all of the media pressure surroundIng it.

But early indications would suggest coaching wasn’t our core issue. This team and talent have been grossly over hyped.

The coaching staff isn't more proven. McCarthy has better credentials than Garrett, but the overall staff has yet to mesh. It takes time.

As far as the players, they"re a hot mess on offense, defense and special teams. I include offense because of turnovers. Coaching is a part of that, but at some the players must step up and earn their paychecks.

Yes, right now, absolutely.

The players we’ve accumulated on the DL have been the biggest example of that. I even forget Griffen is a Cowboy sometimes. DLaw may be our most overhyped player on the team

Over hyped in every facet of the game.

Fassel is better than what we had but that's it.

I understand . No doubt . But early indications are coaching probably wasn’t our top reason we weren’t having more success . This teams talent has been over hyped.

No, not really. When we get our guys back, we'll be find. Eliminate some mistakes and would all feel better. We lost to two good teams, one of them a Super Bowl contender. There is no harm in losing to Seattle. After thinking about it, I'm glad we didn't give up what Seattle did for Adams. When you have Russell Wilson, you don't have to. When it came down to crunch time, Adams was on the sidelines injured, and Russell Wilson did what Russell Wilson does. Back to the question, we have some changes we need to make with playcalling and we gotta get some players back from injury on this defense. We're judging this team and coaching staff after three games. We're all still suffering from ten years of Garrett PTSD. Not to make light of PTSD, but his tenure definitely is having a lingering effect on anyone trying to evaluate the first three weeks.

maybe for now . they had good pieces but not all the parts yet. I know its hard after 25 years but, give it time.

Every year......

I think regardless of how MM does, we needed a change at coaching. Not saying this cause I hated Garrett, but he had his time here and I think we needed a new voice.

This team however gets overrated by the front office. They still fall in love with some cats they have, think rookies can solve everything, and continue to short sell the safety spot.

Ever since they got bit by Ken Hamlin, they signed Sensaugh, who was good, then it's been D2 guys, day 3 guys or UDFAs.
They try to find these diamond in the rough guys but mostly end up with dirt.

The Jaylon signing reminds me of the Dolphins re-signing Kiko Alonso. A rushed decision by the F.O. and the Dolphins regretted that deal right away. This FO is probably too proud to realize they messed up

I’m Not disputing a coaching change was needed.

But was coaching really our core issue or just a scapegoat for this team being over hyped?

Overhyped and unbalanced. Too much investment in the offense - good for fantasy football players but not in the real world of winning a Superbowl.

The only ones who are hyping the cowboys are themselves. So no they are not.

I think it's a mix of both.
Can debate what % goes towards which side.

Obviously the main issue is the GM that is also the owner and also the buddy to some players here.

Are you saying it’s still a mix of both ?

Yes every year for the last 15 years they have been overhyped. That’s why everyone laughs at our fan base now. We drink the cool aid that this year will be different insert whatever reason. This season it was Garrett being gone but yet we still an undisciplined football team that makes multiple mistakes every Sunday so far. Can it be cleaned up? Who knows, can this defense not be a sieve? Probably not, the secondary is atrocious that won’t be getting better and the only pass rush they have is one guy who has been out of football for 5 years! How much are Crawford, Lawrence and J. Smith taking you cap space? And for what type of production? This front office gives out too many big contracts to players who never live up to them.
