Are Cowboys over hyped?

I thought finally ridding ourselves of the Puppet coaching era was going to be the difference many had continued to call out for not having more success in recent years.

Many had argued this team was loaded with talent under achieving and our coaching was holding this team back. That we had too much talent to not be making a deeper push in the playoffs.

This team appears to have many more problems than just coaching. We shall see if this more proven coaching staff has the ability of overcoming and steering the ship over the hump while dealing with a meddling ownership who won’t be comfortable with a team spiraling down and all of the media pressure surroundIng it.

But early indications would suggest coaching wasn’t our core issue. This team and talent have been grossly over hyped.
As the Kim family dynasty is to North Korea, so is the Jones family dynasty to the Dallas Cowboys.

Until the Jones hire real football people, the franchise will see no real success, unless they hire a Parcells or Bill Belichek type - that will be the counter-balance to the culture that Jerry brings - the team is just spinning its wheels.

Thats the only hope til we get a real GM.

There were concerns with the defensive talent before the season started and, quite frankly, with Nolan as DC. Nonetheless, I expected much more than we've seen from this defense.

With the exception of safety, the team addressed many of the glaring issues from last year - CB, DL - through a good draft and reasonable FA acquisition. Obviously there have been injuries, but why hasn't the defense been better? Fundamentally, it comes down to under performance by DLaw, Jaylon Smith and the entire defensive backfield.

On the other other side of the ball, I am absolutely amazed at the performance of the OL given the number of injuries. Can you imagine how bad the offense would have tanked under JG given these circumstances? Oh, and Lamb has lived up to all the post-draft preseason hype... Stud receiver.

Are they overhyped? Only every year since 1995.

This team hasn't had a championship-caliber defense in years. They've got some shiny toys on offense and it blinds some people into thinking they're unstoppable, but it's hard to win when you have to score 40 every week.

I do think that it was time for a coaching change regardless. Having said that, this team is filled with mistake prone underachievers with some at key positions. Also, there are quite a few players that are not durable enough to count on. Talent is one thing, but, consistency, execution and production is another. It does not matter if you have 600 HP if your car won't start when you need it.

extremely. I'm done hyping this team up. Every year they come out the same. I'll start hyping them up when they make an NFC Championship. Til then, I will obviously root for them to win, however, I will not expect them to win.

So , Mike isn’t enough to make a difference ? And not the Savior many touted him as being! I thought he was hiring real football people?

It’s difficult seeing much progress thus far. Maybe Garrett wasn’t as bad as many thought. And coexisting with this dysfunctional ownership is a big part of the battle without that Belichick /Parcells type stature.

Why are we so over hyped? Is there someone we should hold responsible ?

And how much does this over hype raise expectations ?

If we didn’t have the name brand recognition, we’d get as much hype as the Bengals and Lions do every year

We are a team, a franchise that keeps living on past glories and lost of people and fans here think this team is going to accomplish something great .... lol makes me laugh

I think we're usually overhyped, yes.

But losing a close road game to Seattle should not swing the needle.

Garrett is gone, he had his chance, wether he "wasn't as bad as many thought" is a moot point, he went as far as he was going to go.

As a fan we all know that the Jones clan has the next two generations of GMs in place, so the only hope we have is either someone has an epiphany and decides to hire a real GM or they get a BB/Parcells type of coach.

Both slim chances but I guess that all we have at this point.

Defense yes, Offense yes and no.

LVE and LEE being out, killed the defense. Lineman out killed the oline. So when healthy, we're good.

I truly believe they’ll sell the team once Jethro is gone. I can’t believe all of the siblings will agree or tolerate one being the dominating force wanting out . All it will take is one of them wanting out to drive a sell if the team.

While we have seen families continue with the next generation we haven’t seen multiple siblings running it together. This could be the demise of the Jones Hierarchy .

Remember this was their fathers dream, not theirs. And Daddy hadn’t had to answer to anyone but the fans. If there’s troubled waters with one of the siblings ways of running Cowboys Football they’ll have to answer to the other siblings and where it stirs the waters.

Yeah but little Stevie seems to be knee deep into it, and after him its the kid that aways shows up in the war room.

No tons of turnovers no offseason and some close losses tell me they will get it turned around..

I can see something like 2018 where they finish very strong...no need to hit panic button..nor make all these off the all knee jerk reactions.. stop trying to figure out where they are going and why and enjoy the ride IE a football fan can watch games and cheer for their team until its over..

No. I picked them 9-7, 10-6 ish type team and I over bet this squad by around 2 games.

ALWAYS, but lets not pretend this team can't gel, become better and do some damage in the conference.

We haven’t came to a season ends conclusions. Only reporting on the state after 3 games results. As always it’s subject to change.
