Micah hasn't done squat in Green Bay. He is one of the most overrated players in the league. He got completely exposed by us on that Sunday Night game.

Most are to dumb or angry to accept it ........ his podcast rubbed them the wrong way more than being arrested and doing drugs ever did.

I understand if we were actually in an official rebuild mode and Micah wasn’t in our plans as we planned on trading him to highest bidder during Free Agency that could have actually been a strategic plan. But that’s not what happened. We had every intention on resigning. We just couldn’t get a deal done . But I’m not here to argue out as that’s been exhausted over last couple months.

This thread is about what the impacts of losing Micah has meant to this defense . The fact we lost him a week before the season had to be devasting to a DC and schemes with other losses on defense in FA and injuries.

Where was our pass rush going to come from. We also lost Lawrence as a Cap Casualty. Our top two edge rushers gone .

And with our 2 CB’s not a 100% recovering from injuries we were leaving our secondary very vulnerable without a pass rush.

WTH were we thinking. We had to know it could be a disaster .

nah, this trade needed to happen. Hopefully it opens the eyes of the FO about how horrible this defense is and they reload with the right players next year.

Agree 100%. In fact, with the defensive performances we've had, Micah would be sulking all over the sidelines and practice fields.

Last year Cowboys were close to bottom barrel in most Defense categories this year bottom barrel so really not much difference. What did MP add not much if you look at the numbers. Have no problem with the trade, he’s just not the game changer like a LT was.

It really just comes down to if you think the Cowboys actually have a chance in 2025 or not. If not then it makes a lot of sense to flip Parsons for a pair of early picks and 2-4 year from now there is a good chance we will be happy with the end result of the trade. If you think the Cowboys have a legitimate chance to do anything more than just slip into the playoffs as a 7 seed and be 1 and done its a horrible move. There is just no way to justify that having Parsons off the roster makes this defense a stronger unit.

I don't disagree but with Parsons and Lawrence we might have the 23rd ranked defense not 32nd. That might be good for 4-2 right now with the way the offense has played.

On your second point I'm willing to reevaluate if they spend the $30M in cap that's rolling over, when instead I see more bargain bin shopping and saying "we signed Pickens you have to think of the pie..."

You are not wrong, but that defense would likely be good enough to make the playoffs and exit after the first game.

At least this way, we can see what we have and if we don't get lucky this year, at least maybe we can improve next season with the extra cap space and draft picks.

Micah wouldnt change a damn thing about this defense. They would double or triple him because the others are no threat. He would get you his typical garbage time sacks and thats about it.

Letting him go was right. Not investing in Defense in the Draft and Free Agency was not

This is a bad defense, more due to scheme in my opinion, but still bad regardless and Micah making better doesn't equate to Micah making it good no matter how talented he is.

I have a feeling Eberflus was consulted about trading Parsons, not that it was his decision nor am I saying his decision carried a lot of weight, but Eberflus must have felt somewhat good about the defense having watched them practice all summer without Parsons. Losing Parsons didn't destroy the defense. Parsons might have covered up some of the stink but the defense needed a rebuild before the trade and still does after it.

That was my point .. on THIS team, he's not the missing piece. He was closer to being that on the Packers defense.

There's no question Parsons would make this defense better (assuming he could stay on the field every game), but I don't see him as the "missing piece" like Haley was. I would mostly agree, but I think the big issue is simply that this defense overall is not very good so no one person will be the missing link. Parsons wont take a bad defense to good, but I think he could help an average defense become good....especially at the rate this offense can score which is where Parsons has done his best work.

Parsons would at least have given me some hope as maybe Overshown can provide some plus value when he gets back, or maybe they can make a deadline deal for a rental DB to get the secondary on track. Without a true centerpiece on defense like a Parsons I'm skeptical that any move will really move the needle....especially if Eberflus is going to continue to be stubborn with his scheme.
