Are the Cowboys a GOOD BET?

A buddy of mind is an avid Vikings fan and has the collection to show for it. He has even been voting to get that stupid tempt destiny billboard for the Vikings. As he put it, it's time to put up or shut up and has now challenged me to a bet. $100 dollars that the Vikings will win, no point spread.

I feel confident we'll win but money is tight and I am not ready to get a divorce (just yet). Two questions:

1. Does anyone here know what the odds are for us winning?

Answers so far: Vikings are 2.5 point favorites

2. Should I take him up on this?

Answers so far:
6 - YES
1 - NO
2 - Yes, but No if I can't afford it

The way our defense has been playing I'd say our odds are better than projected. Couple that with the fact that offense and special teams is firing on all cylinders and I'd say you're in good shape. I really like our chances. And that's not being homeristic. This team has stepped up the the next level this month, and I think that is a good bet. My advice: Take it.

I think the chances of a Dallas victory are pretty good. But I wouldn't make the bet if I didn't have the money to lose regardless off the odds.

Don't bet if you can't afford to lose. That's rule #1. Second, you have to realize that there are about 60 people on each side of the ball that can affect the outcome of the game. That's 120 people that can screw up and either make, or break, the outcome of the game. Then there are what, 8 referees that can also impact the outcome?

I personally feel the Cowboys are going to win this game by 10 points. I'm not betting on the game, but that's my gut feeling. Frankly, the season has been a success by my standards. The "Boys beat the Eagles three times, I repeat, three times.

I would take that bet even with a point spread.

The vikings are 8-0 at home, great record, but look at who they beat at home,

SF
GB
Bal
Sea
Chi
Cinn
Det
NY

Not exactly a tough schedule, toughest game was Bal and SF, and they barely beat Bal. Greenbay had serious offensive line protection problems early in the year.

Dallas beat an undefeated NO team with a very loud crowd. crowd noise not an issue.

Dallas hasn't allowed a 100 yard rusher all year.

And all this talk about Jared Allen with 14.5 sacks, 7.5 have come in the two games against Greenbay, so he had 7 sacks in the other 14 games. I think Dallas will run right at Allen all day. The Vikings secondary isn't very stout at all and winfield has a foot injury that has slowed him and they have serious problems covering the tightends.
Dallas can throw all day long and Brett Favre, as well as he's played during the regular season, is 0-3 against dallas in the playoffs in his career and with the pressure that Dallas will bring up the middle, ends and the corner blitzes where Ball killed him two years ago when he was with Greenbay, he's going to throw INT"s Sunday. I believe this game isn't as close as people think, Dallas wins by atleast ten.... TAKE THE BET AND TAKE THE MONEY!!

I'd take this bet though.

Last I heard, everyone betting on the Cowboys is getting 2.5-3.0 points. You should too.

while most people here are giving you good logical advice...here is advice concerning the actual gambling #s...

The Vikings are 2.5 point favorites, by betting the game straight up, means you would be betting the Cowboys money line. The cowboys money line is currently at roughly +120 (pending where you go it may differ a tad bit..+115 or maybe +125)...

Therefore a traditional 100 dollar wager would render you 120 in return if the cowboys won..by betting this guy straight up, you are losing out on that 20 dollars..if you ask me, I would make this bet, because the spread is only 2.5, and the value you are losing isn't anything ridiculous..

I agree. And if you are in a good marriage, it's worth more than $100 bucks!
Anyone can get INJURED at anytime in a game which can completely change the outcome...

Now there's a man who knows what he's talking about.

Tell your buddy, my 100 against your 120. Why should you give him home field and the points for nothing?

I don't bet on the NFL anymore. Long ago I won with regularity. I wouldn't anymore.

Still I think its a good bet although I'd try to get the three points. Don't bet what you can't afford to lose though.

I hear ya'.I came across a sure thing in Mexico once upon a time as well, still haven't found that billfold as of yet.

If you lose I can think of a few sure things as well.

1) Hot words and cold shoulder from the wife.

2) Hall sex with the wife.(thats when she tells you to screw off when passing in the hallway.)
