A buddy of mind is an avid Vikings fan and has the collection to show for it. He has even been voting to get that stupid tempt destiny billboard for the Vikings. As he put it, it's time to put up or shut up and has now challenged me to a bet. $100 dollars that the Vikings will win, no point spread.

I feel confident we'll win but money is tight and I am not ready to get a divorce (just yet). Two questions:

1. Does anyone here know what the odds are for us winning?

Answers so far: Vikings are 2.5 point favorites

2. Should I take him up on this?

Answers so far:
6 - YES
1 - NO
2 - Yes, but No if I can't afford it

The #1 rule of gambling/betting is to never, never, never, never bet what you cannot afford to lose.

In other words, if the money is tight as you said in your post, I woud not make the bet. If you need the money for rent, food, utilities, bills, ect....., it would be totally stupid to wager with that money.

However, if you got a $100 bucks and it wont put you in a bind to lose it, then I would go ahead and make it.

Another option if money is tight, is to make a bet that does not involve cash. My neighbor and I made a bet one time on a Bowl game and the loser had to mow the other guy's lawn for a month. I lost a bet another time to an old college buddy and I had to wash his car by hand for a month.

Just some suggestions if you want to have a little wager on the game but really cant afford to lose the money. Tell your friend you dont have the money but the loser has to trim the other guy's hedges or something.:D

I would take that bet. But then again, if I couldn't afford to lose $100, I wouldn't take the chance. As an alternative, consider a friendly wager - loser wears the other team's jersey and decorates the front lawn with the winning team's paraphernalia...through the remainder of this season. :D
