Are the Cowboys causing Micah to lose the surprise factor in his game?

In a perfect world you have an option on the roster so you don’t have to get into negotiations with the good players, just the elite ones. That’s obviously hard at some positions like QB or edge rushers. But Schultz is an example of a guy you could have easily hard an option waiting and not had to tag him last year. It’s not easy to always have a guy but I think they should be thinking that way at the very least. And that involves thinking 2-3 years down the road sometimes
Yep, identify the team leaders to build around. His worth as a team leader exceeds the somewhat petty argument about whether to pay him as a pass-rusher or try to low ball him as a LB.

As you say, pay the elite.

No OC or offensive lineman was ready for the explosion that is #11, when he began rushing the QB. Hell we weren't ready for it either and it caught most of us off guard at just how awesome he is at it. That surprise factor is gone, now every OC will focus on slowing him or moving the play away from him in some fashion.

Leadership is very under appreciated
Guys that set the tone of an offense or defense are under appreciated
One thing I love about Wilson is he is the tone setter for the D
Within the rules he is an enforcer and he doesn’t draw penalties doing it

The benefit of that is we’ve added other pass rushing options. So if they are using too many resources dedicated to Micah the other guys have more one on one blocking they face

Absolutely. I hope we see Williams take a step forward too and of course how the heck to you deal with the Mazi beast inside and Micah.

Imagine on passing downs
Williams-Mazi-Dlaw-Armstrong
With Micah picking his spot to rush from
Even dropping a guy out in zone sometimes
Could create a few headaches for QB’s lol

The opposing offense comes out of the huddle, who are they looking for first on the Cowboys defense?? #11!! They need to know where he is to adjust their protection, have him chipped, or doubled.

My fear is that when he first started out for the cowboys you didn't know where he was coming from. He came from everywhere, making it less predictable to make adjustments.

My question is are we fine to leave him at one spot all game long, and have him take on big OT AND double teams all game, or at times can we switch him up still. I know he wants to be a full time DE, I think we can move him around SOME times to bring some confusion to the offense.

If anything, have him switch sides, and not rush from the same side all game.

2) Does anyone think the added bulk will slow him down??
I'd rather he focused on being a better LB that rushes the passer on occasion,,, with the new beef on the DL maybe they'll give that a shot.

They are still going to move him around all game.
They just arent goign to play him as an off-ball LB positonally.
They didn't really last year either so it's a non change.

Micah is looking to add 5-7 pounds not 20. He'd be ideal quick edge size/speed.

Only real worry about Micah should be will Jerry pay him 1180 mil to extend here.

there's zero chance of that happening.
Exactly. It's not like management just looks up on some chart what to pay an LB or a DE. Everyone going into those negotiations knows what Micah has done and can do. Where he's located on some external categorization by position is not going affect the deal.

I agree but.....

If he ends up franchised, that's a "look up the chart" price for LB or DE so it is a factor. I appreciate highly, highly unlikely we get to a franchise tag but shouldn't be dismissed completely from him wanting designated as a DE......just in case.

What makes you feel they're going to do this, he barely did it last year, I hated seeing him go against the same guy every game

I think that the Cowboys should use Parsons like SF uses Fred Werner. And have him rush the QB just on occasion. They can always change that at the end of the season but they can't have him just coming after the QB all the time especially to start the season.

Not sure how much of this is really just wanting the title of DE, which pays more. How they choose to line him up and use him is something else altogether...
Generally speaking, some positions pay better than others, but I bet he gets top money no matter what.

Micah isn't a secret anymore.
Probably why he's struggling a little.
He and the cowboys just needs to find other ways to to make an impact.

1.5 sacks in the last 6 games playing mostly DE. He is not big enough to set the edge as a DE. His value is at LB blitzing from all over the DL. Do we need to see him register a 5 sack season at DE before declaring the problem?
Lawrence has been doing it for years.
