Are the Cowboys ready?

We know the defense will be ... trying. We know we will yield yards and points.

Can this offense go next level. That has to be the goal. This offense has to be elite to carry this team to a winning season. The pieces are in place. The Niners stand before us as an ultimate week 1 test.
Dez says the league doesn't know what they're about to do. That's good enough for me right now.

The pre-season is over. Now the fun starts. My prediction: we will be mediocre with an outside shot of improving around mid-season. We will be one of the most explosive teams in the NFL but we will be equally porous.
Look for thrillers galore this season. I'll say 8-8: with an upside of 10-6, and we will upset some heavy weight teams this season.

With more cap $ next season, we will make our move to top of the mountain. Let's not throw in the towel yet. The Niners are a great week 1 opponent for this team. If we can get a W in wk 1, anything is possible the rest of the way.

Well add some more parts next week and kick a few more tires after the season starts. For now we are about as ready as we can be. With any luck we can start adding some of the injured as we go along. Bring on SF and let's get to some real football.

there is this. when Cowboys played Denver to the wire last year that showed people what the team could do when it clicked. playing 49ers to the same level would prob do same since they are favorites to play in feb. if Cowboys could beat them somehow it would have to be pretty amazing effort Im saying

Fire in the hole...and a good thing that exhibitions don't mean a thing, except a roster place going into the season.

If the Cowboys defense is as bad as many of us fear, especially against the run, I can see teams trying their best to keep the Dallas offense off the field. Teams will game plan for this strategy, they find a weakness and their coach's job is to figure out how to exploit it.

Last years big highs and big lows will level of a bit.
We got a few more pieces this year still need a few more.
it's going to be a very interesting season

I think it's us optimistic Cowboys fans thinking that as bad as our defense is, our offense is going to be as good. What indication do we have that it's going to be good? Linehan was just fired and Garrett was just demoted from his job.

What's really changed around here that's going to turn this above-average offensive unit into an elite one?

That's a hopeful projection that I just can't buy in to.

It's the only saving grace we have, I know. We all see our defense for what it is, so we--optimistically--try to account for this by saying there's going to be highs and lows.

What if our offense falters? Romo can't play anymore? It's entirely possible we just get the lows this year and we can't wait until it's over.

But every year is unique, so who knows? Personally, I just see the same team as last year--but with less overall talent, depth. That's the problem with 'continuity'--the pieces may have changed, but Garrett is still HC and Jones is still the GM.

Were ready to play football, but wining football still eludes us. I'm hoping we get something going as the year goes on, but not looking for much winning the first quarter of the season, hoping we can at least platy 500 ball this year. This seems like an up hill battle though;

Knowing this team I can see us give it all and beat the 49ners only to lose to the Titans the the week after.

Not this year. If we beat the 49ers, no way they lose to the Titans. this is where I see the difference in this team this year. They will have improved just enough to win that 2nd game.
Now doesn't mean they go to the Rams, and win that one, but they would have some postive momentum to do so.

This is like the Sweet & Sour sauce...no not THE secret sauce...
Sweet on offense, sour on defense, however, many people like this kind of sauce. But can the sweet overcome the sour as an overall team. I think it can.

I used to be optimistic about our defense. I knew it was going to be a challenge but I figured that thinks will improve. Im so sorry to say that I'm having doubts. We might actually be worst than last years D.

Add in the fact that refs will be calling our D with lots of BS calls which I know that Garrett would not be willing to challenge because his clueless.

I am really regretting why we let Rob Ryan leave. He wasn't the problem, its Garrett. Now were going to be staring down a very dismal season.

Are the Cowboys Ready? Not on your life. It seems clear that Dallas isn't ready to compete with any team other than those generally regarded to be patsies. Thus far, they're lacking in the ability to stop the run effectively, unable to apply pressure to opposing QBs, haven't been able to limit the opposition's passing attack and aren't able to sustain drives as yet. Things aren't likely to be smooth sailing in the early going. In fact, it might be a long while before this team is ready to take on a legitimate contender.

I don't know how ready the defense will be with several starters playing their first game on opening day. But their playing at home and the offense is healthy....so I think it will be a good opening game.... I see the game close into the 4th qtr ...then we will see who comes up big.

I think that's a more likely outcome than you may have really intended.

Fact is, no one knows if they're ready -- not even the coaches.

Oh, sure, they'll make proclamations about what they're planning to unleash on the league, but the team is still in a state of transition.

The OL hasn't played together enough, even though they look good on paper.

The D is patchwork, with so many question marks regarding coverage responsibilities and health. Key players will be out for 1st 4, so the there's no way the team can really be set until about midseason.

We don't know what what we're going to get from series to series, let alone week to week.

Should be interesting to watch their growth, though.
