The G-Bag Nation poses the question: “Are the Cowboys wasting Dak Prescott’s prime years?” What is your honest opinion of Dak as a quarterback? Does he deserve more blame? He’s been given the talent around him, but is the coaching staff helping him out?

My response to 105.3:
The very title chosen "Are The Cowboys Wasting Dak Prescott's Prime Years?" is coming from a faulty premise to begin with, that assumes "Dak would be a successful Playoff QB only if....."

Too many false premises to count. But I'd expect nothing less from the Cowboys Radio Station... Dak was not, and is not, and is never going to be a Playoff caliber QB. Dak has a ceiling, and that will not change, and cannot change, regardless of the talent, or lack of talent, regardless of the coaching, or lack of coaching staff around Dak. When you accept these Big Boy Facts, then all of the endless focus on Regular Season stats, and thousands of peripherals is totally meaningless.

Dak Prescott is wasting Dak Prescott's prime years: and the team is all in support of him doing so.

This whole batch of Cowboys (Dak included) are content to be gutless frontrunners who play with no desire to win ballgames, and roll out embarrassment after embarrassment on Sundays.

There is still this concept that Dak Prescott is an elite quarterback.

He's very good, don't get me wrong. He is the starting quarterback on my team, and I support him during the games. I think I have been very fair to Dak. I have supported him.

I am only criticizing the way in which he is being perceived by fans and marketed by Jerry Jones. It's not his fault that Jerry is a putrid GM and even worse contract negotiator.

Dak is the kind of quarterback that can get the job done if there is high-end talent on the rest of the team. He is a high-end busdriver. He is a hard working, above average NFL starting quarterback.

Dak is a top-five quarterback at times when he has a top-five O-line, a top-five receiver, and a defense with a couple top-five players.

If he was an elite quarterback then he would not require such a level of talent to support him. In fact, elite quarterbacks are given elite contracts on the premise that no more than a couple more elite contracts are required in other areas.

Dak is getting paid because Jerry Jones does not believe in open competition or talent acquisition for the most important position in all of football.

Jerry overpaid for Dak.....twice!

Think about that. He experienced a butt-kicking from Dak's agent, who had all the leverage due to Jerry's incompetence.

What did Jerry learn from that? Apparently nothing. He never tried to find a viable alternative during the period of that first huge contract and got molested by Dak's agent a second time.

Don't blame Dak for being Dak. Don't blame him for the size of that contract. Dak's entire career has been mishandled by Jerry from the beginning.

Jerry should have let Zeke sit for that season instead of yet another foolish contract. He could have satisfied Dak that year instead for a much lower amount. Then he could have the time to draft a quarterback with the ability to truly compete for the starting position.

This is comical. In a Shanahan offense he'd likely already have a ring...especially with the defense the 49ers have fielded over the last five years. He is producing the highest EPA under the QBR metric right now:

  • 228 quarterback action plays — most in the NFL.
  • +39.0 passing EPA — most in the NFL.
  • +45.5 total EPA — most in the NFL.
  • +23.9 points above average — most in the NFL.

Dumb QBs don’t win SBs.

How can a dumb quarterback last in the NFL for over a decade, putting up top 10 production and remaining a top 10 quarterback during that decade every year he's finished health?

How can a dumb quarterback become an All-Pro and MVP candidate?

There are over 100 quarterbacks in the NFL and a dumb quarterback can always place himself in the top 10 of all of them every year? So how dumb does that make the other 90 quarterbacks underneath him?

For context, give me the names of other dumb quarterbacks that have done all of the things that Dak has done because he couldn't possibly be the first dumb quarterback in 100 years of professional football to have done these things, correct?

(Here's the questions that extremely dumb fans would never answer after making extremely dumb comments, because their dumb comments doesn't line up with reality.)

If there was one play that could sum up daks career it’s the Baltimore redzone play throwing it over Pickens head.

Simply put - missed opportunities

Well your summary states that Dak was instructed by the head coach to throw the ball away if his first read wasn't open. Pickens wasn't open before Dak threw the ball away.

I can't believe people are still making false narratives about a play that happened weeks ago.

For me it's still seeing him in his 11th season running toward the sideline and instead of flipping the ball out of bounds, running oob with the ball in his hand for a 2-3 yd loss.
